Having a hard time taking vids of this <FV-tuna.com> Bluefin pattern. There’s so much going on that my camera continues to adjust itself. The belly fades out to silver, has hues of purple and brown and a hint of pink. The fins have blue and brown and the black back is throwing the camera off balance. Not close to done yet, this is layer no4, epoxy coat no5. Off to more epoxy and get back to it in 72 hours for more layers! #wickedTuna#strategicanglercustomlures#whennothingbutthebestmatters
Last week at Risaa, I had the opportunity to talk to Capt Dave of tuna.comcharters regarding our bluefin fishery. He has been supporting the tag-a-tiny program by The Large Pelagics Research Center tagging/releasing juvenile bluefin tuna. The research needs funding to continue their studies and to purchase more tags for anglers to use as part of the study.
Capt Dave has graciously given me the ok to make a very limited number of lures with his logo on it, and will be signed and numbered by Capt Dave. All proceeds via raffle to win one of these special lures will go to LPRC. I have chosen my last set of 10.5” Walker series for this raffle, and will be painting the lures in a bluefin tuna pattern, something I have never painted before (I’ve painted Yellowfin tuna, Albies and skipjack but not bluefin...kinda odd isn’t it? Haha). The Walker series is being revamped late this year with some upgrades so this set is very exclusive, these are V2.0 bodies. (More details on the v3.0’s when they’re ready for release)
I’m finally back home from the Rhode Island show...a little tired but had an awesome time! I’m glad to be home to relax...my turn to make some dinner tonight and not have to deal with lures for a little while but this happened.... ugh.
It’s inevitable...they’re taking over...one hand painted lure at a time.
Earlier today at the Rhode Island saltwater show, I was honored to talk with artist Abe Pieciak who draws individual lures INSIDE a beautiful mural of (select) fish. I am in the middle of commissioning a piece that will feature a tuna chasing a lure while also using the STRATEGICANGLER️ Lure Lineup in its design. When the artwork is complete, we will offer Giclee prints (size to be determined) which will be numbered and signed by both Abe and I as a very limited edition set. Please let me know if this is something you would be interested in, I would love to share his artwork with all of you!!!
