When I was in the hospital a nurse asked me, "if you could say anything to the people who hurt you, what would you say?" To which I replied, "look at what you've done." The nurse then explained to me that you don't have to give those around you power in your life. You don't have to let the people who tore you down years ago hold onto your pieces. You are allowed to take yourself back, to regain power. While terrible things may have happened, they are in the past now. You can move on, and if you do, how are they gonna stop you now?
I think there is such a hidden beauty in this line. Because sometimes the best time you have with others is fighting the scariest things. What I mean by that is, I have the best relationships I have ever had right now. Only because I finally have had to depend on those around me to help me slay the "dragons" in my mind.
