Mimetics is a gesturally responsive robotics installation that was exhibited at #MillMoveMe – our recent one-day event of art and technology hosted in @Mill_NY. Spearheaded by Creative Engineer Noel Drew, #Mimetics employs 4 robots equipped with marker pens that draw on a large sheet of set paper. Within the confines of the paper’s frame, they can whiz around and create art unassisted, but also be gesturally controlled by the crown using @LeapMotion sensors. The final result; a crowd-sourced collaborative mural and historical record of interaction. Find out more about the project on themill.com/millchannel
Embracing nature in all it’s glory – yes that’s bugs and critters included – can be rejuvenating. In a world where emails are perpetually present, making it impossible to shake off your responsibilities due to constant reminders, sleeping outdoors can shake up your nighttime routine in a good way. It can be the change you need to resist the pesky thoughts keeping you up at night. It takes you away from what you’re used to – your couch, your bed, your phone — and it throws you into a new scene. It’s a chance to breathe new air and think new thoughts. Those who resist change may not feel attracted to the freedom of sleeping outdoors, but you won’t really know until you try it. You may be delightfully surprised by how great it makes you feel.
"The world backstage is almost just as complex and intriguing as the artists themselves, and with companies...engineering new and innovative ways to highlight those artists, the world of musician and medium have fused in dazzling harmony." @eddiewillgo
