I've been testing sunscreens for a post that is coming - but my lil "side project" is actually taking most of my time these days. I'm so so so excited to keep working on it, watching it grow, evolve, and reference. So many small details of me are in it and I feel as though it's an extension of my mind and soul. And gut instinct. I want it to be the next step in our awesome community; anyone who follows me and anyone I follow creates a web where ideas, information, and real emotion can flow. The phrase I can't help but repeat since I first pieced it together a few weeks ago is, "I'm an artist by instinct, and an 'influencer' by choice." I'm the vessel and the message is: Power through knowledge. You work hard for your money and it's not my money to spend idk I'm not going to formulate some colluded bullshit just so you'll click on my affiliate links and I can make $1.26. Quality not quantity am I right ladies!!!!!!!! Anyway New project is coming soon, but I might be a little quiet for a week or so. I promise it'll be worth it / I hope at least PS: I've been testing the @shiseido Urban Defense and it's good if I know I'm going to be out and about and I've probably (definitely) overdone it on the facial oil beforehand. Before you ask: yes I did have red wine with this bomb ass dinner I just cooked and then some but hey, speak your truth I guess!!!!!!! Thank you for sticking around - this art project will also be, I hope, super informative and I can't wait for you to be a part of it PS: I'm posting this photo mainly because it fits my current theme #tophcam#tophcammademedoit#skincarecommunity#ifuckingloveyouguys
Indulgence is: embalming yourself in @biologique_recherche_usa Lotion P50 1970 Mummified in @shiseido cotton lmao There's just something so lustful about dousing yourself in a liquid that is formulated with an ingredient that is banned in Europe I love P50 1970 and always will. I can't imagine my life without it. It scratches that itch that I often get for an acid exfoliant that just makes my skin transform overnight, and numbs my face in the process. I don't find it to be a particularly stringent lactic acid product in terms of resurfacing the skin, but I certainly know they my skin couldn't handle P50 1970 on even an every-other-day basis. Eventually I want to explore to other formulas to find a milder version that still numbs my skin a lil For now, I'm happy with my current state of reserving P50 1970 for when I just need to have killer skin the next day. PS: I buy mine from @rescuespa through their online store #biologiquerecherche#P50#P501970#rescuespa#tophcam#skincareblog#lacticacid#acidtoner#carolinehironsmademedoit and #lizalaskamademedoit and #allthat#skincarecommunity#iloveegyptianhistory
Indulgence is: a balm that smells (and tastes, y'all can bet I was licking my lips like there was no tomorrow) like birthday cake - down to the über-sweet vanilla frosting scent that fills the air after you apply it. I have been using the Birthday Cake Balm Dot Com by @glossier x @milkbarstore nonstop since I received it in the mail last week. There are tiny flecks of holographic shimmer strewn throughout the balm, but the effect is much more subtle than you'd expect. I've been loving it for my lips and cheekbones, though admittedly, if your skin is extremely sensitive to anything with an aroma or flavor added to it, I'd patch test it first. Butter(cream frosting) safe than sorry! With all that said, the main thing I love about this balm is the fact that it's fun. Plain and simple I've included my Reps link in my bio in case you want to take a look at it. I'm going to be wearing this on my face for the entire summer with some linen pants and wave spray all in my hair glossier.com/reps/Christopher - just in case the link isn't currently in my bio and you're curious! #glossier#birthdaybalmdotcom#balmdotcom#tophcam#skincare#holographic
In a new series, I want to explore the idea of indulgence within skincare. Which products make you feel naughty - like you're giving in to a guilty pleasure - and lavish? Feel free to indulge us in the comments below We should be able to explore the sensorial comfort and mental invigoration of a product without feeling guilty! Some indulgences have surprised me, and others are as obvious as a gigantic slice of chocolate cake. Stay tuned First up is a twofer, @votarylondon Super Seed Cleansing Oil and @munskincare Organic Face Towel. Indulgence: a non-emulsifying cleansing oil that smells of herbaceous parsley, nutty wholesomeness, and aromatic earthiness. A washcloth that is thorough but mild - a balance I'm constantly struggling to find. A cleanser and a hot washcloth. Utter euphoria. It's so hard to explain how amazing it is to rub something on your skin that smells good enough while knowing that it'll also work wonders on your skin. All the seed oils - rich in omegas, vitamins, fatty acids, and reparative lipids - work to provide a cleanse that feels as complete as it does replenishing. I never expected to be so captivated by a cleanser that doesn't emulsify and doesn't smell like chocolate and flowers, but here we are. Obsessed. A few days of consistent Super Seed oil use and my skin will bounce back from anything. Case in point: my recent video The next couple of posts will feature the idea of indulgence at its very core. If you want a full ingredient list or other details, I think I did a blog review of the Super Seed range on tophcam.com. I was recently invited to become an affiliate with MŪN as of late last week, so I've included my link in my bio in case you'd like to check out their page. My May Products video talks about some of my favorites from the line based on my recent experience #votarylondon#votary#superseed#oil#cleanser#cleansingoil#tophcam#beautybloggers#skincare#instaskin#skincareblog#skincare#skincareritual
Global Beauty by @linahanson is as gorgeous as you'd expect it to be. Lina and her brand have such an eye for detail that spans from the thoughtful formulas to the vibrant burst of orange that greets you open a product carton. Global Face Serum is an oil-serum based on Baobab, Argan, Marula, and Camellia and with such a balance of both nourishing and balancing oils, it should be suitable for most skin types. For reference, I'd say it's slightly richer than Vintner's Daughter or ML The Youth Dew, but not as syrupy (in a good way!) as La Belle Lune. I find I can skip face oil after, though I never do because ya girl loves to pile it on. I described this serum as "tangy" in a previous post and I stand by that
Global Treasures is stunning, to put it plainly. Definitely rich and buttery, but it melts faster than any treatment balm I've used in the past and is easily the most concentrated. It is based on thea, shea, and apricot oils / butters and would likely be most attractive for someone on the drier side. If you're on the oily or cloggy side, just be sure your skin gets along well with shea beforehand. It smells like rich cacao and orange and is literally as decadent to use as you'd imagine it would be. A huge thank you to Lina, Kelley, and everyone else at Global Beauty - I've truly been enjoying these little guys. I'm going to continue playing with Global Face Trio and let ya know how it goes!
If you've read my Vitamin C post from a few months ago, you'll know I didn't enjoy the first iteration of @drunkelephantskincare C-Firma. I found it to be drying, sticky, and with extremely faulty packaging. Tiffany read my review and reached out. She apologized that I had had a bad experience and offered to send the up-to-date formula with the assurance that I would love it. And I do. I like it a lot To be honest, I wasn't planning to. Even though all Drunk Elephant products are perfect on paper, I've found myself unable to connect with any of the products I've tried. They were never bad, but I just never clicked with them - I guess that's the best way to describe it. I waited to open the new bottle until I was away in Texas last week as I had a few other C's I was finishing up beforehand. I haven't put it down since then. It's non-drying, non-sticky, and the Vitamin C / Ferulic signature scent dissipates a bit more quickly in this formula than other C's of recent memory. I still use @jordansamuelskin Hydrate serum underneath because that's just the standard these days, but I definitely don't think my skin would feel uncomfortably dehydrated without it. I've been in the sun a bit more than normal the past week and a half, so I'm really more cognizant of daily C + Sunscreen use. I'll continue to use C-Firma and let you know the full deets (especially to let you know if my skin can handle the higher percentage of l-ascorbic), but I'm so glad I had a chance to try the up-to-date formula because I really do like it. Thanks Tiff
It's a long one, but I'm proud of how it turned out Thank you to all of you for continuing to be supportive and allowing me to express my art through talking about skincare! I hope that the efforts I make, and proudly so I might add, toward maintaining honesty and transparency are able to translate effectively as you generously allow me into your homes. As much as blogging has become a platform for self-fulfillment and a path for (ideally!) future successes, I recognize that its progress is exclusively dependent on the relationship you and I have together. I want to work harder for you as much as I do for myself. We will grow together PS: the link is in my bio for ya
Had the utmost pleasure of having drinks with Arabella and Charlotte of @votarylondon this evening It made my heart happy to know the people behind the brand are even lovelier than the gorgeousness that is the Votary range. Clever, passionate, and (seriously) glowing Thank you to both of you lovely ladies for taking time out of your busy day to share stories, insight, and laughter with me. I look forward to seeing y'all again Can't wait for the rest of the year to unfold #votarylondon#votary#tophcam#britishbeauty#skincare#oil#soho
Recently, I've been reconnecting with my love for fragrance. I fell out of touch for a while, but lately I've been enjoying using scent to elevate my mood, outfit, and immediate environment. I find myself eager to spritz and luxuriate in the moment. My tastes for fragrances vary, but I suppose it's because I view each individual bottle as an alternate personality. I can be whomever I want to be with a dab of eau de toilette, and that's a powerful notion if you ask me! I'm quite content with my collection at the moment, because I'm able to embrace the fragrance families I'm drawn to at the moment while revisiting the ones I loved in the past. See any scents you like? #fragrance#tophcam#scent#perfume#cologne#parfum#Bbloggers#beautybloggers
This has really been the month of the oil and oil-serum. School was insanely busy and I got home exhausted almost every night. I'd do a quick oil cleanse, a nice spritz, some oil / oil-serum, then off to bed. These are the ones I reached for over the past couple of weeks. I'm going to try to describe them in three words, but I'll definitely go into more detail for the monthly products video! @whyldskincare Youth Activating Elixir: balancing, supple, versatile. @linahanson Global Face Serum: glowy, tangy, enlivening. @jordansamuelskin étOILe with Retinol: practical, universal, unscented. @africanbotanics Neroli-Infused Marula: euphoric, satiny, streamlined. @odacite Po+R Pomegranate and Rose Geranium: hydrating, potent, extroverted (she plays well with others). @votarylondon Intensive Night Oil: dreamy, immediate, strengthening. @munskincare Aknari: impactful, earthy, brightening.
Thank you to all the brands who generously provided these gorgeous oils and shout out to Brooklyn Junk for this lacquered Japanese wood tray #skincare#tophcam#oil#serum#greenbeauty#greenskincare#Bbloggers#skincareblogger#oilserum#green#flatlay
These are the sunscreens I've been using for the past week to protect my skin from different wavelengths of ultraviolet light @paulaschoice Resist Super Light Daily Wrinkle Defense - this is very nice. It feels like a creamy and silky primer with a satin silicone finish. There's a subtle pink hue to offset the potential blue-white cast of the 11% zinc, but its not noticeable once dry and did not alter my skin tone at all. It keeps my skin looking pretty soft all day, which is a great plus. I haven't worn makeup over it yet but I'd imagine it would be dreamy @farmacybeauty Green Screen - likely the best sunscreen I've used to date. I've shared my thoughts in a couple posts and videos, but it bears repeating: it doesn't look, smell, feel, taste (?), or leave the finish of sunscreen. It makes me want to use sunscreen. It's a blend or organic filters at quite a low percentage that still manages to provide SPF 30 protection. I can already see myself picking up tube after tube. From what I've heard, deeper skin tones have found it workable as well which is always a big @glossier Invisible Shield - from my initial impressions, it's okay. It hasn't made me do roundoff back-handsprings, but I also don't want to throw it away. The texture is a lightweight gel that is similar to sunscreens I've felt from Korean or Japanese brands, but the Glossier doesn't use solvent alcohol which is a plus. It smells exactly like sunscreen, and in fact, more so than other sunscreens I've used recently. It uses purely inorganic filters so that may be why. I'll definitely be explaining my full feelings in my May Products video at the end of the month, but suffice to say that I personally prefer other sunscreen formulas. I'll continue to play with it and learn more about it, but for now, it's this: ♀️What I will say, though, is I'm glad they're pushing daily sunscreen use so thoughtfully!
PS: thank you to those who purchased through my reps link before I had even talked about it. Y'all are so kind and thoughtful thank you #sunscreen#spf#psychedelic#tophcam#skincare#glossier#farmacy#paulaschoice#sephora#beautybloggers#Bbloggers#skincareblogger
