Had the utmost pleasure of having drinks with Arabella and Charlotte of @votarylondon this evening It made my heart happy to know the people behind the brand are even lovelier than the gorgeousness that is the Votary range. Clever, passionate, and (seriously) glowing Thank you to both of you lovely ladies for taking time out of your busy day to share stories, insight, and laughter with me. I look forward to seeing y'all again Can't wait for the rest of the year to unfold #votarylondon#votary#tophcam#britishbeauty#skincare#oil#soho
Recently, I've been reconnecting with my love for fragrance. I fell out of touch for a while, but lately I've been enjoying using scent to elevate my mood, outfit, and immediate environment. I find myself eager to spritz and luxuriate in the moment. My tastes for fragrances vary, but I suppose it's because I view each individual bottle as an alternate personality. I can be whomever I want to be with a dab of eau de toilette, and that's a powerful notion if you ask me! I'm quite content with my collection at the moment, because I'm able to embrace the fragrance families I'm drawn to at the moment while revisiting the ones I loved in the past. See any scents you like? #fragrance#tophcam#scent#perfume#cologne#parfum#Bbloggers#beautybloggers
This has really been the month of the oil and oil-serum. School was insanely busy and I got home exhausted almost every night. I'd do a quick oil cleanse, a nice spritz, some oil / oil-serum, then off to bed. These are the ones I reached for over the past couple of weeks. I'm going to try to describe them in three words, but I'll definitely go into more detail for the monthly products video! @whyldskincare Youth Activating Elixir: balancing, supple, versatile. @linahanson Global Face Serum: glowy, tangy, enlivening. @jordansamuelskin étOILe with Retinol: practical, universal, unscented. @africanbotanics Neroli-Infused Marula: euphoric, satiny, streamlined. @odacite Po+R Pomegranate and Rose Geranium: hydrating, potent, extroverted (she plays well with others). @votarylondon Intensive Night Oil: dreamy, immediate, strengthening. @munskincare Aknari: impactful, earthy, brightening.
Thank you to all the brands who generously provided these gorgeous oils and shout out to Brooklyn Junk for this lacquered Japanese wood tray #skincare#tophcam#oil#serum#greenbeauty#greenskincare#Bbloggers#skincareblogger#oilserum#green#flatlay
These are the sunscreens I've been using for the past week to protect my skin from different wavelengths of ultraviolet light @paulaschoice Resist Super Light Daily Wrinkle Defense - this is very nice. It feels like a creamy and silky primer with a satin silicone finish. There's a subtle pink hue to offset the potential blue-white cast of the 11% zinc, but its not noticeable once dry and did not alter my skin tone at all. It keeps my skin looking pretty soft all day, which is a great plus. I haven't worn makeup over it yet but I'd imagine it would be dreamy @farmacybeauty Green Screen - likely the best sunscreen I've used to date. I've shared my thoughts in a couple posts and videos, but it bears repeating: it doesn't look, smell, feel, taste (?), or leave the finish of sunscreen. It makes me want to use sunscreen. It's a blend or organic filters at quite a low percentage that still manages to provide SPF 30 protection. I can already see myself picking up tube after tube. From what I've heard, deeper skin tones have found it workable as well which is always a big @glossier Invisible Shield - from my initial impressions, it's okay. It hasn't made me do roundoff back-handsprings, but I also don't want to throw it away. The texture is a lightweight gel that is similar to sunscreens I've felt from Korean or Japanese brands, but the Glossier doesn't use solvent alcohol which is a plus. It smells exactly like sunscreen, and in fact, more so than other sunscreens I've used recently. It uses purely inorganic filters so that may be why. I'll definitely be explaining my full feelings in my May Products video at the end of the month, but suffice to say that I personally prefer other sunscreen formulas. I'll continue to play with it and learn more about it, but for now, it's this: ♀️What I will say, though, is I'm glad they're pushing daily sunscreen use so thoughtfully!
PS: thank you to those who purchased through my reps link before I had even talked about it. Y'all are so kind and thoughtful thank you #sunscreen#spf#psychedelic#tophcam#skincare#glossier#farmacy#paulaschoice#sephora#beautybloggers#Bbloggers#skincareblogger
Serving debonair fresh-off-a-win looks this afternoon with @greenenvy. I'm so proud to have been among such great company (so I happy I got to meet each and everyone one of you!) at this year's CEW Awards. Honey Potion was the recipient of the Indie Beauty: Skincare award and, if you ask me, was well-deserved. From the beginning I truly connected with Farmacy's initiatives towards the ethical growing, processing, and formulary practices that make a green brand truly green. Congratulations to everyone at the amazing Farmacy team and a huge thank you to @jaimemaser for inviting me to the awards luncheon! Save the bees PS: my suit is from @shopthebreak and I can honestly say I've never felt more confident in my entire life. .
These are some body oils and serums I've been liking lately. @munskincare Argan Oil - not specifically intended for the body, but I've been loving it for my legs and thighs. It's very light but a definite hug of nourishment. @maylindstromskin The Good Stuff - a chocolate classic. Makes me feel like I'm wrapped in silk. @bareoriginskin Golden Chocolate - Not specifically for the body either, but the bourbon vanilla and bite of chocolate are really sexy and gourmand. Great when I wanna feel saucy @munskincare Ayour - One of the slickest and softest serum-oils I've ever used. It instantly turns the skin to butter. Seriously moisturizing and I gasped at the scent when I walked back into my room after getting dressed - which, by the way, was almost immediately after I applied this lushness. @skindew Sanctified - Still getting fabulous Hot Topic in 2002 vibes, which makes me love it even more. The Argan oil base is quite softening too
Consider tonight's theme song "Soon-to-Be Innocent Fun / Let's See" by Arthur Russell. If you've got ten minutes to spare and can lay flat on your back on the floor, it's a real sonic journey to say the least Cleanse with @maylindstromskin Honey Mud - Still just as in love with this goop just as much as I was the first time I used it. It's indulgent.
Tone with @munskincare - using a cotton pad as advised by Munemi! It's my first time using this, and the experience was quite nice. I think the word I'd use to describe it is "neutral." Not too scented, not too balancing, not too drenching. I'll keep you updated! Though the formula contains sodium hyaluronate, I wanted to include some extra insurance just in case. @indie_lee Swiss Apple always works like a drink of water on my skin, that's for sure. I like that it's not sticky either
Oil is @jordansamuelskin étOILe with Retinol - my skin is certainly responding well to an increase in retinoids, but I don't want to overdo it. I think (and I hope that this is somewhat in line with what Jordan intended when making this formula) that this will become a Vitamin A treatment to use in between more potent treatments. I love the étOILe formula as it is so a little retinoid boost is downright perfect if you ask me.
Finish with @africanbotanics Marula Balm which, quite frankly, smells like the moss you put in the pot of your faux ficus tree. Maybe it's my (admittedly) strange sensorial memory bank, but I remember a nearly identical scent to the ficus my mom had in her office when I was growing up. It's not offensive, and most people likely won't make that same connection, but I can't -not- say it!!!!! It's a super rich balm, that's for sure. I used way too much. I'd say an eye cream sized amount is more than enough! This was my first time using it so I'll continue to update you
If you play "Nothing's Gonna Hurt You Baby," by Cigarettes After Sex while viewing this photo it'll really help to set the mood. But that might also just be me secretly trying to sneak music into your life Why? Who knows!
Working hard on projects for school tonight. I keep telling myself that there's only three weeks left - thank goodness! My ritual tonight is simple but impactful. Rarely do I combine acid exfoliants and retinoids, but my skin seems to be able to handle (and needs to be given) slightly more potent treatment these days.
Cleanse with @munskincare - slippery, balancing, and comforting. I met the ethereal @munemiimai for lunch the other day and we talked for three hours. She's such an intelligent and passionate energy. There will likely be a blog post coming up because I really connected with her almost immediately. My heart sings
Exfoliate with @radicalskincare - I love these pads because they're the right balance of potent and gentle. I forget how much I enjoy them until I start using them again!
Spritz with @odacite Aloe + Immortelle - which I find to be quite hydrating and wet on the skin. It pairs perfectly with an oil or oil-serum.
Oil treatment is @votarylondon Night - you all might have seen me talk about it in my April Products of the Month video. If not, the link is still in my bio I believe. Every time I've used it, I've seen really nice results the next morning. Hoping for the same tomorrow!
Eyes are @chanelofficial Le Lift - still (and likely will always me) my favorite eye cream. It does it all and smells like nothing. Top marks
Tonight I'm aiming for clarity and hydration. I'd say I achieved that with this ritual, especially considering my skin feels content and significantly more balanced. Woohoo skincare!
Cleanse with @tatcha and @glossier - as much as I love Milky Jelly in general, I still find it's just pure perfection as a morning time cleanser. I'm very tempted to use it for that purpose because it -is- so good for that.
Tone with @dermalogica Multi Active - I can't recall mentioning this toner, but I've definitely used a third of the bottle since opening in a few months ago. It smells like nectarines and hydrates as it softens. Quite good, and the bottle is gigantic. Seriously, I'm like where's the brown paper bag and late nights spent talking with your friends in the park?!
Exfoliated with @theritualist - First time using this and immediately all I could picture was one of those air freshener cones that you put in the bathroom. It seriously smells like Renuzit fresh rain or something. It's also very watery, but it sure does give an immediate plumpness and smoothness. I'll keep you updated!
Serum is @deciem Niacinamide - this tackles barrier repair and clarity. I'm almost halfway done with the bottle. I reviewed some of the products on my blog months ago - but I guarantee someone is going to ask what I think about them
Eyes are @caudalie
Oil is @jordansamuelskin - Such a good oil. So balanced. I used the retinol version last night, but I'm taking a break on account of introducing a new exfoliant.
Moisture is @katesomervilleskincare - I love Oil Free. Period. #tophcam#skincare#skincareblogger#skincareroutine#Bbloggers#beautybloggers#nighttimeroutine#lights#skincareritual#maleblogger
Sunday Spa Day Taking some time to reset my skin after a busy couple of days full of festivities. Congrats to @joshcolliermua and @cfishwick for getting married!!!!! They know how to throw a party
Cleanse with @omorovicza Cleansing Foam - I missed her. A cushiony orange blossom froth that doesn't strip or dehydrate my skin.
Mask is @batemanskincare Zinc + Clay. For as great as Zinc is, there are very few non-SPF products that contain it. For as much as this mask feels and looks like sunscreen, it doesn't feel or look like sunscreen - if that makes sense. There's a great camphor tingle and some definite pore refinement after removal. I found the Zinc to be quite soothing which is always nice to see. This is only my second time using it, but I've really been enjoying it. Thank you for sending it over and not getting any blood on the furniture
Mist with @joshrosebrook - A less-indulgent indulgence. I'll be ready to pick up my third bottle soon
I used the @glossier Super Bounce to rehydrate my skin and I find it to be quite effective. It's definitely a squishy and milky serum, but there's very little left behind after application. My skin drinks it all in. Plus she cute
I spritzed again after a minute or so and pressed the @whyldskincare Elixir into my skin. It's perhaps too soon to say how my skin interacts with this oil serum, but I haven't seen any negative side effects since I started using it on Friday. Thanks for sending it over y'all - I look forward to playing around with it a bit more
Eyes are @algenistbeauty Eye Balm because let's face it I look tired
Moisture is @janescrivnerskincare OO Cream - Its hard for me to explain how I feel about this moisturizer without saying, "it's just so damn good." Thank you Jane
Lips are @oylnatural Manuka Latte - A buttery cream that smells like fresh coffee grounds and softens the skin on the lips. It's so fab. Thank you for sharing it with me Andrea
Time to listen to Grimes and re-ready my David LaChapelle book for some inspiration before the work week starts and all hell breaks loose
Sorry I've been MIA the past couple of days! School is back in session and we only have a couple of weeks left. Needless to say, I'll be extremely busy with final projects and whatnot. Beyond that, I'm having some strange issues with one of my camera lenses. It seems that it will only focus at 55mm, which isn't ideal for filming a video with the camera clear across the room. If anyone has experienced the same issues with Canon lenses, please let me know! There will definitely be some good skincare content coming soon but for now, here's a picture of my dresser Oh and in case you were wondering, yes the Santa Maria de Guadalupe is directly influenced by @allaboutvalentina bc I luv her I love my home so much and I'm thankful that many of you have expressed an interest in seeing it
I dunno man. Some may say nothing has changed, some may say everything has changed. All I know is I'm learning not to be so hard on myself all the time, which is kinda nice. I don't talk about my age openly because it automatically changes people's perspective of me whether they vocalize it or not. I can tell in their eyes, in their words, or in their body language. It's something I'm very protective of because I want my work and my accomplishments to speak for my character and soul, and not the day I was born. All my life, I never related to people my age or "maturity level", as my psychiatrist once said. I'm an only child. My parents raised me to be independent and ambitious. They have supported my art, regardless of what it was at the time, for as long as I can remember. Recently I took a 16Personalities test and learned I am a "Logician," or INTP-T - which basically means I like to be alone, I don't understand emotion that well, my mind never stops spewing ideas, and I have wavering self-doubt. I've been poring over the e-book for the past month and I feel like I know myself now more than ever. I also feel like I understand why it's always been hard for me to connect with people. I guess that's where creating content comes in. I want to make things that are different. I want to challenge the standard of the industry I'm in. I want us all to feel open to communicate with one another and share our passions. I want us all to respect one another. I won't be apologetic about how good it feels to hate myself a little less these days. I won't sell out and cram proverbial gunk down your throats to make a quick dollar. I respect you and your hard-earned money too much. I'm proud of what I've achieved on my own, but I'm also incredibly thankful that many of my achievements are linked to the support that you all have shown me over the years. I've actually been on YouTube for 7 years this December, which I find quite odd. I've grown up on the Internet and have put my art online for the world to see for as long as I can remember. I've always felt like a jester, but at least now I'm in wide-legged black linen pants. #gratitude#tophcam
