Learn About Plants With Me! (@greensiblings)

I think it’s just me, but when I see sassafras, I always think of a dinosaur’s foot... 😂I am pretty sure it’s just me.. Let’s learn more about this genus shall we? The Sassafras genus comprises of 3 species of living trees and 1 extinct, and it is native to North America and Eastern Asia. All parts of the trees are fragrant. The leaves do not always appear to have 3 lobes as shown in the photo , but they can be oval or mittens shaped with a thumb- like lobe as well. Therefore, when trying to ID a tree, look at more than a few leaves to help you. Bark is orange-brown and get deep furrows when mature. Fun fact: the roots of this tree was an original ingredient of root beer. Also, if you are in the area, apparantly the largest sassafras in the world is located in Owensboro, Ketuncky, measuring 100ft high and 21 feet in circumference!!! #sassafras #neverstoplearning #neverstopexploring #botany #botanical #trees #treehuggers #naturegram #treeart #leaves #fall #postoftheday #plants #plantagram #dinosaur #forest #woods #hiking #naturephotography #ontario #canada #northamerica #green

We travel, initially, to lose ourselves; and we travel, next to find ourselves. We travel to open our hearts and eyes and learn more about the world than our newspapers will accommodate. We travel to bring what little we can, in our ignorance and knowledge, to those parts of the globe whose riches are differently dispersed. And we travel, in essence, to become young fools again- to slow time down and get taken in, and fall in love once more... #landscape #landscapephotography #naturephotography #nature #photography #photo #photographer #travelphotography #travelgram #travel #instatravel #instalike #instafollow #follow #followme #instagrammer #instagood #instagram #instadaily #photooftheday #potd #view #vacation #throwback #kashmir #igtravel #natgeotravel #natgeo #mountains #trees
