Studies show that 52.2% of animals who were lost and microchipped were returned to their owner compared to the 21.9% of those who were not! This sweet girl found her way home after being gone more than a year, all thanks to her owners for microchipping. If you are interested in microchipping give us a call and we can set up an appointment. Don’t let your pet be part of those who can’t find their way back home!#veterinarymedicine#microchip#homesweethome
October 4th - World Animal Day! Originally brought about by Heinrich Zimmermann, this event was scheduled for the 4th of October to align with the feast of St. Francis of Assisi (the patron saint of ecology AND animals). This day is also credited to those from the International Animal Protection Congress and the convention of ecologists, both held in Florence, Italy in 1931. The ecologists wished to specifically highlight the plight of endangered species. Today, it is overseen by NatureWatch Foundation (based in the U.K. ) and globally represents animal protection and animal welfare. (I am sad to say it took me 27 years minus one week to discover that my birthday falls on this historic day/!) I think the stars aligned on this - despite my lack of knowledge - given my daily reminder plaque that I share with you all!
