Guess who would be taking on poetry in the "Christmas in a Pen" Workshop; @seunlw Seun Lari Williams.
He would be facilitating one of the classes on Poetry. And it promises to be a fascinating experience; the art of writing poetry in a distinct way. ******************
Seun Lari-Williams is a lawyer, flutist and a poet. His book "Garri for Breakfast" was nominated for the NLNG prize for literature in 2017.
Assuming that the one who inspired this may never see this, (and if by some crazy coincedence he does, he probably won't know for sure it's me) this is what I would say if I could tell him:
I hope you are well. I hope you have found the path that takes you to the person you've wanted to be: the person that I believe has been there all along. I hope you are surrounded by great people. I hope you are happy and peaceful and have finally known what a truly incredible person you are... I don't know who you have become. I don't know if you think of me as often as I do you. I don't know if all of this wondering will ever be revealed. I just know that I will not ever forget you. I will not forget the way you made me think, the way you made me feel, and the honesty you showed. I wish things could have happened when we were both in better times and better places; perhaps that way we would still have each other in some way.
I often wonder and hope that perhaps it isn't too late? Maybe when we're both older and greater and stronger, the time will be better. If so, I look forward to that. I look forward to getting to know the newer you, the stories you tell me about your new life realizations, the incredible people you've met and your latest innovative plans for the future. Hopefully, my future self will be just as interesting... I hope we will still be able to accomplish those promises we had made before, the ones about riding our bikes across the country, watching that movie you claim you could never watch alone, or going to that fancy film festival.
However, I do feel foolish when I do think of those things because not everything is guaranteed. Whatever happens, just know that I will always think of you fondly.
...I believe that if you ever did find this, casually, somehow, you'll know exactly that this is me. For this reason, I just want you to know that in the end, I haven't forgotten, I hope you are well. I hope you are happy.
