The English Garden this month, featuring the Kitchen Garden @ruddingparkhotel on the cover, with fabulous photographs by @beelee66. I designed this garden in 2013 and it's now really singing, and providing a superb range of fresh, unusual and heritage vegetables and fruit for @hortorestaurant. #kitchengarden #raisedbeds #heritagevegetables #hyperlocal #horticulture #gardendesign

Carob harvesting. Long, slow work as the fallen Carob 'beans' are collected by hand or then nipped out of the tree canopy. #agriculture #portugal #parquenatural

Only planted this April, I'm so pleased with how this has come together. Clipped hornbeam columns and swathes of Molinia, Panicum and Calamagrostis with Stipa gigantea and splashes of colour from Agapanthus. #contemporary #gardendesign #spa #landscape @ruddingparkhotel @hortorestaurant

August is always billed as a tricky time in the garden. Ours is still looking okay, lots of purple/blue from Salvia, Hydrangea and Geranium, and plenty of structure in the grasses.

Came across these stone water troughs on a client visit in Northumberland. I love it that someone would go to so much trouble to detail livestock troughs in this way, one rectilinear, one crescent shaped, joined by a narrow rill. #gardendesign #landscape #stone #water

Well farewell Shetland, with its Impressionist meadows and implausibly clear water. And not a midge to be seen! #shetland #meadows #sea

Shetland summer night. Although, as you can see, there really isn't a night - 20 odd hours of daylight and the rest a gloaming dusk. #shetland

Shetland sunshine. 13 degrees today, a good summer day so the locals tell me. #shetland
