Under the rubble lies a 10 year old boy. He died when a wall collapsed on him during Sunday's 7.2 earthquake that hit Iran and Iraq. But they don't want to dig up his body. Photo London is pleased to announce the latest Takeover: IRAN NOW curated by Iranian photojournalist and documentary photographer Newsha Tavakolian (@newshatavakolian). For this Takeover, Newsha has selected a group of projects that cover a diverse range of themes from identity to suicide to politics. Uncompromising and inventive, the works by young and emerging Iranian photographers presented over the following fortnight will shed light on a corner of the world where the individual is often overshadowed by the culture: whether social, political or religious.

#SheToo Not all of us have access to social media to tell their stories of abuse, especially not the women who fled from Boko Haram, staying in a refugee camp in Maiduguri, north east Nigeria.
I have been here for some days now. Conditions are tough. There is cholera and food is scarce, it is when some hold power and others are needy when abuse thrives.
Fatima, 9 years old, wouldn’t tell me if she had faced abuse or rape, also common in the camp. Like most others she preferred to keep her stories to herself, trying to survive instead. The brave aid workers that work here tell me there is a lot of pain behind the silence of most women in the camp.
As we share our stories of abuse, we shouldn’t forget those who are unable to speak out. #SheToo #nigeria #refugees @magnumphotos #iphone

To escape the summer heat, most Iranian families trek north to beaches along the #CaspianSea. @newshatavakolian of @magnumphotos took this photo of Alireza Alami, 55, with his sister at Amin Abad beach. ‘‘I was a prisoner in Iraq after the war,” Alireza told the photographer. “The sea makes me feel calm and relaxed. It makes my mind free.” Swipe left or visit the link in our profile to see more of @newshatavakolian’s photos from Iran. We’ll be sharing more photos from @nytmag’s Voyages issue over the next couple of days.
