At my book launch party last year, after I got off the stage, the DJ announces "Luvvie's mom has dedicated a song to herself." And I was like "Wait. It's MY party, doe." And then she started spraying me money so I didn't mind. Also, even if I mind, what's my own?? It's a special day, because it's my mom Olu Ajayi's birthday!!! She's the quiet storm. She's small but mighty. People think my smile lights up a room but hers can electrify any building she's in. I am because she is.
Bruh. MY BODY IS READY FOR #BlackPanther. This movie is gon be so NOIR and I cannot wait. This poster is OnyxExcellence and I need to go get my #alphet ready cuz I will be watching it in full DOING THE MOST gear. In fact, my gele will be so legit that I'll need to sit in the back of the theater so other people can see. #TeamTewMuch#ItsSoBlack#WeMustShowOut
A few years ago, I got 5,000 new FB fans in like 3 hours and I was like "where are all these folks coming from?" Turns out that @JenHatmaker had shared one of my posts on her FB page, and her fans came running to my page, becoming members of LuvvNation. It was so dope!
Us meeting was a long time coming, so last week, Jen was one of our special guests for the Austin stop of the #TogetherLive2017 tour. I already loved her but meeting her made me go: "Oh this is bae." LISTEN. Don't let the Christian-ness fool you. The woman has no chill and she had the entire theater cackling. Most importantly, she got MOXIE, and is willing to use her platform to challenge her tribe. We need more of that.
JEN, HEY BOO!!! oh and check out her podcast episode 1, where she interviews me.
Her name is Akosua and she's the work of the gifted @quellyrue_. I had to buy this piece because it is so striking and I love it. Can't ignore dope Black art. Will get her framed and ready to grace a wall. #AfroArt#Ghana
From one professional troublemaker to another. I appreciate women like @JemeleHill who are the domino and truth tellers even when they have something to lose. And as Black women, the anvil comes down on us hardest. Jemele, your words are necessary. Thank you. Sorry that you have to be punished for speaking truth. The sisterhood got you, however we can help.
