Yesterday, I went looking for a database of Black women who are running for office in 2018. I didn't find one, so with the help of 4 other people and over 20 (wo)man hours, we created one that has info of 100+ women. Link is in bio.
And please don't message me with more names. We created a form where you can add the info of more Black women candidates. Link is in the page. Also, Shoutout to Higher Heights for their work in ensuring that #BlackWomenLead. EDIT: PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL ME EDITS AND ADDITIONS TO THE LIST. USE THE GOOGLE FORM LINKED ON THE PAGE.
Do not #NotAllWhiteWomen me. Two-thirds of white women who voted in Alabama voted for a pedophile. If two-thirds of ANY OTHER GROUP did some thing that was this damaging, we would be getting annihilated for it. So. Sit in these hurt feelings. Deal with accountability, for once. And if you aren't the hit dog, don't holler. Anywho, click link in my bio to read. AwesomelyLuvvie.com
White women. Wowsies. Nothing is as determined as a desperate white man who feels like he’s losing his position in the web of oppression he created. But nothing is sadder than the woman who has bought in to her own subjugation.
White women. DO BETTER. I expect nothing from white men but white women? Well, actually I expect nothing of them too. Still. Wow. #Alabama
Therapy is necessary. And fellow Christians, your pastor is not your therapist and prayer is not enough. Some people need therapy BECAUSE of their pastors. Also, hey Nigerians. More of us need to be in therapy too. For reasons. Just... everybody. Go. The world would be better for it.
"I am so disappointed you would ask why Taylor is on the cover of TIME." Well *I* am disappointed that Taylor is being positioned as voice of a movement b/c she won a lawsuit and lost nothing when others have lost everything when they break silence, but don't get visibility. WHY IS TARANA NOT ON THE COVER?
In October 2013, I saw @vanessa_kdeluca at an event and she goes "Luvvie, where is your book?? You need to write one." I told her "I need to figure it out." In Oct. 2014, at the same event, she asked me again. I said "I have the idea and I'm talking to an agent!!" .
In Oct. 2015, my answer was "I just turned in my manuscript!!" And last year, she was congratulating me on #ImJudgingYou becoming a Nytimes bestseller! .
So when my hardcover version dropped, I knew I wanted Vanessa to be my partner in convo at the launch. Honored to be interviewed by her last night. This woman is the epitome of sisterhood in action. @Essence has been a HUGE supporter of my work and my book and I am so grateful to Vanessa for championing me. Thank you so much, V. You are walking #NoirPixieDust.
This weekend with these queens was everything. Chosen family. Never too old for sleepovers. Never too proud to be humbled. Never too big to get foolish. The climb to the top is way more fun when your girls are hiking with you.
Thanks to @mrdblanks for capturing us. #MakeWAVs#NoirPixieDust#WestAfricanJollof
Yo. @iammarleydias is 12 years old and she leads a literacy movement to get more Black girls reading books and I am in awe of her. At 12, I was too busy being a hot mess while this brilliant being is changing the world before she even becomes a teenager. Forbes 30 under 30 honoree and carrier of #NoirPixieDust. She is part of the reason I have hope about the next generation. I'm just honored to know her. #Supergirl#TeenVogueSummit
