One of my favorite storm formations that I shot in Germany quite a while ago. Shelf Clouds can look insane sometimes, really.

Another one of this series. That storm was just absolutely epic, flashing like a stroboscopic light ⚡️

Easily one of my favorite pictures. A lightning storm blowing up behind Ologa during the last sunrise of my trip. Catatumbo Magic, believe it.

This shot is too good in full view to not show the whole thing. I call it the Auroranado.

Good morning from Germany, or as in this picture, from Iceland's Volcanic highlands. This light definitely ranks up high in my best sunrise list.

While the storm was pushing towards us, it displayed its danger by lowering it's teeth revealing an incredible shelf cloud/gust front constellation.

Sometimes nature leaves me speechless. Sometimes it creates scenes that I think are just possible to create in Photoshop or any other manipulation software. But this moment was so real and pure that all of us stopped what we were doing as we sat on the stage in front of the Catatumbo Camp in Venezuela just to stare into the bright milky way for hours without saying a word. Never have I seen people so in peace and fascinated with nature than in this moment. Sometimes we should all just pause our life and stare into the stars for a moment.

It's Sunday, so let's do 3 pictures today!
This one is at one of the cooler locations, we visited recently, as @gzphotographer is walking along the stage right next to the rails that, during low tide, lead towards the Stalker Castle in Scotland. The weather wasn't too nice but this location always works.

Iceland is known for volcanos and the chaotic weather conditions, as it is stuck somewhere in the middle of the North-Atlantic ocean. My friend Nicolas Alexander Otto and me spent a lot of time during our recent trip chasing the gaps in the clouds, which required me to drive 500km through blizzard conditions and roads buried in fresh snow. We still had half of the drive ahead of us when the clouds opened and the aurora started dancing above our head. Paralyzed by this incredible sight, I stopped the car in the middle of the road knowing that only one other car had passed in the last two hours and we just stood outside, starring into the sky until the clouds took away again that which they had just opened up to us.

Venezuela's most amazing place, the place with the most lightning on earth.

For my team and me, country borders do not matter. Sometimes we find ourselves in our neighbour countries, just targeting the next storm. We met some Dutch friends that day and after shooting night lightning on the beach for 5 hours we were tired and exhausted, but as long as you can see a new storm approaching on the radar there is just no time and no need to sleep. The next moment we found ourselves in between the UNESCO World Heritage Kinderdijk, a beautiful shelf cloud ahead, glowing reddish in the sunrise. The fatigue turned into screams of joy from each of us, since we all knew this pictures might be some of the most special ones we will ever get in our life.

Godafoss sunset part 2.
I was in awe when these Lenticular clouds started catching fire by the setting sun in Iceland's highlands. The light on the other side was even better, can you believe that?!

Venezuela’s Maracaibo Lake is home to the Catatumbo Lightning, a phenomenon created by unique topographic conditions resulting in the formation of lightning storms more than 200 nights a year. Nowhere on earth can you find more lightning than in this particular place. This provides endless photographic possibilities, but this one shot will always stand out over ones I took in this place over the last two years. I will never forget the overwhelming feeling that hit me instantly after seeing this picture on my camera’s display.
