KIKO Water Eyeshadows 208 - gold shade, this is the well known dupe for Whisper of Gilt by MAC. I own both and I do agree, this is a very similar shade for a fraction of the price. I love this shadow as a highlighter, it is glittery but I find most of the glitter comes when you tap your brush before application. It's small and perfect for travel, holy grail for me ! 200 - a cooler champagne shade, I have used this as a highlighter but find it doesn't suit my skin tone so I prefer using it as an eyeshadow. It gives a beautiful pop of shimmer in the middle of a lid. 203 - a deep cranberry shade that I picked up on a whim in the KIKO 50% online sale, it is super wearable and flattering. I didn't expect to love it so much ! I love the packaging of these single shadows, I usually prefer palettes but I do reach for these. Keep an eye on the KIKO website for their 30-50% sales as then these are a steal! @kikomilano
New Lashes !
So I've been seeing these posted everywhere and went to @littlelondonblogger 's Blog where she talked about how great these lashes were
I love Ardell Demi Wispies, so as these were a dupe at a fraction of the cost, I figured it was worth buying some
Theyre lovely and wispy, giving a glam but natural look, plus the invisible band makes them easy to wear !
I picked them up from eBay, the seller is kanddit, and the style is A20. They were £1.89 for 5 pairs but there's a 3for2 running so I picked up 3 packs
I can't help it, I really love lashes ! I'll hopefully post some looks with them soon too
When I took this picture, it was with the intention of wearing all this. But a quick look at my clock meant it was a mascara+blush only kinda day !
I love the fresh feeling of spraying my face with Charged Water by MAC, I still don't know what magic is in the bottle and I do need to go and find out.
On a side note, it hailed yesterday and I had to de-ice my car this morning. What is going on, UK weather isn't doing me any favours lately !
Why is it so cold this morning ? It's basically winter, in April. I can't cope with the cold !
I figured the cold weather deserved a wintery deep brown lip, and minimal makeup.
Let's just say 5 hours sleep isn't enough to function and today won't be fun
LA Girl Pro Conceal
Colour correcting is quite a game changer, I have dark circles (mostly due to lack of sleep ) so I wanted to try something that would help.
The orange colour corrector by LA Girl is pigmented, and in some cases, a bit too pigmented as the smallest amount can be very orange ! In order to counteract this I like placing the yellow corrector over it for balance.
But here lies the problem, 2 colour correctors under my Concealer means I get creasing and it looks cakey, so we're back to square one !
So I wouldn't recommend these, I like to use the dark Concealer to contour with, but I prefer a light contour so use powder contour over a cream one.
I'm trialling a new orange colour corrector so will post a review once I've used it a few more times :)
MAC blush in Fever
I picked this up on a whim from fragrancedirect when they had MAC blushes reduced, it's a matte blush dark reddish pink which gives a healthy flush to the cheeks.
I find this does need reapplying and a light hand as it is pigmented and I have carelessly looked like a clown on numerous occasions when not paying attention.
I doubt I will ever finish it given the small amount needed when applying !
Benefit Ready, Set, Brow
After using the sample, and realising how rubbish all my other brow gels are, I figured I'd have to make the splurge and buy the full size.
I've religiously used a brow gel by Essence but when I used the Benefit version, I was really impressed !
It holds your brow hairs in place all day, it's a clear gel with a brush with long and short bristles so you can reach all the hairs.
Definitely a must have, been so impressed with the Benefit Brow range in general !
Nothing like good old sunlight to make you look like you're wearing more highlighter than necessary !
I know I've been slightly MIA lately, blame my on-call and night shifts, but I'll be back to normal ! Plus I splurged on some makeup gifts for moi
I can't really remember half of what I wore on this evening typically BUT the highlight is Whisper of Gilt MAC firm favourite !
My very small T K Maxx haul !
After seeing all you guys post about your amazing T K Maxx finds, I popped into one during my lunch break and picked up a few bits.
There was no makeup bits/ skincare that I found massively exciting but I found some new haircare products
And the micellar water smells incredible so I had to.
Looking forward to using some new conditioners, my hairs really not playing ball lately :(
Activated Charcoal for whitening your teeth
TIME FOR A RANT, this is going to be a long post but to summarise, for the love of God, DONT brush your teeth with this stuff.
the amount of people I see promoting this stuff on their Instagram makes me so angry ! Here's a disclaimer, I'm a dentist (so here's the professional opinion), there is ZERO evidence brushing your teeth with charcoal works. None, nada, zilch ! NONE AT ALL, so don't do it !
Activated charcoal is abrasive, you can feel the grittiness under your fingers when you rub it between them, teeth aren't that tough! You're basically brushing your teeth away, and I can't even imagine how much damage you're doing to your gums. You wouldn't sandpaper your teeth...
So if you want whiter teeth, then please see your dentist and do it professionally. Legally, only a dentist can whiten your teeth, so if your local beauty salon are offering it, don't go there! (Also teeth aren't naturally white, don't be fooled!) There's a reason we go to university for 5 years, we know teeth really well. Don't trust anyone but a professional when it comes to using stuff on your teeth.
And people say charcoal is 'fluoride free' like it's a good thing... are you mad?! Fluoride is so good for teeth! It's a massive benefit !
Rant over .. apologies. This makes me so angry though!
But the next person I see promoting this will be blocked, please be wise everyone !
Any questions ask down below and I'll try my best to answer them.
MAC Sweet Copper Compact
I know its embossed beautifully, but I used it anyway
I buy makeup to wear it, not just look at it so although it doesn't look as nice as it used to, it's amazing to wear!
I love the whisper of gilt highlight shade, I use this to travel with as it's a Blush/highlight duo so it's easier to throw in your makeup bag. Plus the packaging it sturdy too which is a plus !
Finished nights shifts ! And it's 10am and I'm about to sleep
Thank you for all the love on my last post !
Autograph Highlighter from Marks and Spencer's. It's rose gold so gives you a more 'wet look' highlight, I love the way it looks on my skin tone but I prefer to wear it at night so it's not so intense. I'd go into store and swatch it to see if you like it
When I was younger I thought you just bought 'grown up' clothes in MnS, little did I know I'd be purchasing makeup from there ! Hidden gem for sure
2nd night shift done and it was so quiet ... slightly bizarre when I was expecting chaos !
Some of my fav makeup picks
MAC Charged Water - I don't know what's in this but to me, it's magic. Spritz before, during and after makeup, keeps everything looking dewy and blended, 2nd bottle already !
MAC Pro Longwear Concealer NC42 - 3rd bottle and I need a 4th ! It's full coverage, doesn't crease much and my perfect shade. If I'm honest I would prefer even a bit more coverage because of my dark circles, I'm trying NARS too!
MAC Blush in Gingerly - I've raved so much, the one Blush I will repurchase forever. Big words I know but I've used this almost everyday since I bought it last year and never looked back.
Lancôme Hypnose masacara - hated it at first, love it now, but for the price tag I'll stick to drugstore as I don't think it's worth it personally. Love the packaging !
ELF lustrous eyeshadow - cream formula, gives an wash of colour to the lids. Perfect for a smoky brown eye and it's glittery, which I love !
MAC Paint Pot in painterly - one of my favourite bases, I wish I bought soft ochre but when I finish this then I'll buy soft ochre. This should be a staple in everyone's collection !
... time for me to sleep now
So the night shift was a success ! In part anyway .. a few broken jaws had me running around like a headless chicken but at least the time went quick
Today it's the 2nd one and im going for no makeup. Because I can't be bothered to take it off when I get home at 9am. So glasses it is !
But if I'm a rush I love the Bene Tint by Benefit. It's a beautiful stain, I found it hard to blend initially so the trick is to work fast !
I like using it on my lips but I find it wears off patchy ? So I'm working on it
Working my first night shift this evening, in one of the biggest trauma hospitals in the UK.
Pray for me !
I'm not gonna lie, I took this pretty picture but I'm wearing minimal makeup to work. Recently my 5am starts mean it's mascara and blush, not a full face.
Major respect for those girls who cleanse, tone and do gorgeous makeup in the mornings. I was not built for that life, I am ashamed
KIKO Water shadow in 208
You've probably heard the hype, this product is definitely worth it. I love the shade, and it applies so beautifully.
I like to apply it on my cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose and on my brow bone. I also dust it on my Cupid's bow, it is glittery but not excessively.
And it's compact so it means it's very travel friendly !
A firm favourite in my highlight collection !
I'm always on the hunt for my perfect eyeliner, and picked up both these Maybelline ones after recommendations.
The Maybelline Master Ink is a dip brush eyeliner, which dries matte and is jet black which I really like. The nib is very fine so it's easy to do a thin liner however I find it takes more practice to be able to use well. So far, big thumbs up!
The Maybelline master precise eyeliner is a felt tip nib eyeliner which again is super black and has a thin nib. I really like this eyeliner too however have heard that it dries out quickly so I'll have to keep an eye on it. But I'm really impressed with Maybelline so far. I'm always on the lookout for new eyeliners so let me know what your favourite is !
