Vegan Pizza Spring Rolls 🍕 🌱

• 200 g (each) tomatoes, capsicums, onions, and mushrooms
• 1 tbs avocado oil
• 1/4 tsp Himalayan salt
• 2 tsp pizza spice blend*
• 1 tbs chopped garlic
[vegan cheese]:
• 1/2 cup raw cashew, soaked
• 1 cup plant milk
• 1 tsp miso paste
• 1 tsp Himalayan salt
• 1/8 tsp garlic powder
• 1/4 cup nutritional yeast
• 4 tbs glutinous rice flour (or tapioca flour)
[others]:
• a handful of fresh basil leaves
• 8 vegan spring roll wrappers
• tomato purée 🇬🇧 (tomato paste in 🇺🇸)

Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven at 400.
2. Prepare the filling by adding oil to a nonstick pan, followed by the rest of the ingredients in [filling] except for garlic.
3. Sauté vegetables on medium heat for about 12-15 minutes until the liquid has evaporated. Turn off the heat and add garlic.
4. While letting the filling cool off, make your vegan cheese by throwing the ingredients in [vegan cheese] in a blender and blend for a few minutes.
5. Pour the mixture into a nonstick pan and simmer on low heat while stirring vigorously for about 15 minutes. Once the mixture turns into a dough-like paste and begins to pull away from the pan, turn off the heat.
6. Assemble your spring rolls as shown in the video.
7. Freeze the spring rolls for about an hour.
8. Fry in hot oil or (lightly brush with coconut oil and) bake at 400 for about 20 minutes (flip half way).
9. Serve with marinara sauce.
10. Indulge.

The study was performed to evaluate the effect of 3-month #kale (Brassica oleracea acephala) juice supplementation on coronary artery disease, the most common heart disease, risk factors among hypercholesterolemic men.
Thirty-two men with hypercholesterolemia, levels greater than 200 mg/dL, were recruited after annual health examinations among the faculty and staff at university. The subjects consumed 150 mL of kalejuice per day for a 12-week intervention period. Dietary and anthropometric assessments were performed and blood samples were collected to evaluate biochemical profiles before and after supplementation.

Serum concentrations of HDL- cholesterol, and HDL- to LDL-cholesterol ratio were significantly increased by 27% and 52%, respectively. The LDL-cholesterol concentration and the atherogenic index were significantly reduced by 10% and 24.2%, respectively without affecting body mass index, waist and hip circumferences, or nutrient intakes after three months of supplementation. While there was no difference in the concentration of malondialdehyde, significant increase in glutathione peroxidase activity was accompanied by a significant increase in the serum selenium levels. It was also found that the responses of these risk factors to kale #juice administration were dependent on smoking status.

Regular meals supplementation with #kalejuice can favorably influence serum lipid profiles and antioxidant systems, and hence contribute to reduce the risks of coronary artery disease in male subjects with hyperlipidemia. #uglybynature

The bitter gourd (also known as bitter melon) looks like a cucumber but with ugly gourd-like bumps all over it. As the name implies, this vegetable is a melon that is bitter.

There are two varieties of this vegetable: One grows to about 20 cm long, is oblong and pale green in color. The other is the smaller variety, less than 10 cm long, oval and has a darker green color.

2 1/2 cups plain flour
1/2 cup caster sugar
1/2 cup almond milk
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp coconut oil
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
Dairy free chocolate chips
1. Combine ingredients in a large mixing bowl and mix together until you have a thick and doughy texture. Add more milk if it's too thick.
2. Place spoonfuls of the mixture onto a lined baking tray. Flatten them a little if you prefer thinner cookies.
3. Bake them in the oven on 220°C for 12-15 mins until the edges turn brown or less time if you want them to be a little more chewy in texture. .

1 medium onion, sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

3 cups jackfruit, either fresh or canned

2 teaspoons salt

1 teaspoon pepper

1 teaspoon cumin

1 teaspoon chili powder

1 teaspoon paprika

½ teaspoon cayenne pepper

1 teaspoon vegan Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon liquid smoke

2 cups vegetable stock

½ cup vegan barbecue sauce

FOR SERVING

6 vegan buns

Vegan coleslaw

PREPARATION

1. Preheat your oven to 350ºF/180ºC.
_
2. If using fresh jackfruit, line your work surface with plastic wrap.
_
3. Oil a large knife and cut the jackfruit in half, then into quarters.
_
4. Carefully remove the core of the jackfruit by cutting into it at an angle.
_
5. Pull each fruit out and remove its seeds and outer coating.
_
6. Rinse the fruit thoroughly.
_
7. Heat the oil over medium heat in a large pan or Dutch oven.
_
8. Add the onions and garlic, and cook until translucent.
_
9. Add the jackfruit, spices, Worcestershire, and liquid smoke. Stir to coat evenly.
_
10. Add the vegetable stock and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 45 minutes, until the liquid is mostly absorbed and the fruit has broken down.
_
11. Spread the jackfruit on a prepared baking sheet and bake at 350ºF/180ºC for 45 minutes, until the liquid has baked out and the jackfruit has a deeper brown color.
_
12. Pour the barbecue sauce over the jackfruit, mix, and return to the oven for 15 minutes.

13. Serve warm on vegan buns with vegan coleslaw. .

For those of you whole still consume honey, recent testing was done by Food Safety News. The tests revealed that 76% of honey sold in stores in the U.S. isn’t real honey but rather, a fake honey product loaded with toxic syrups and sugars. Additionally, these fake honey products are contaminated with antibiotics and heavy metals.

Honey bees naturally obtain carbohydrates by collecting honeydew or nectar. When natural sources are limited or harvesting honey by humans has removed a colony’s supply of carbohydrates, supplemental feeding by beekeepers is necessary and commonly done. Usually sucrose solution, inverted sugar syrup, or other syrups such as starch syrup or GMO high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) are used for that purpose. This in turn creates a different type of honey.

Conventional honey bees are given large doses of antibiotics to help protect them from diseases, but unfortunately, the honey also becomes contaminated with these antibiotics. The antibiotics given to the honey bees are veterinary antibiotics such as chloramphenicol, streptomycin and sulfonamides. Large doses of chloramphenicol administered into human beings may cause cancer and aplastic anemia. Similarly, high doses of streptomycin and sulfonamides are harmful to the human body.

To make matters worse, a study by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has labeled one pesticide, called clothianidin, as completely unacceptable for use, and banned it from use entirely. Meanwhile, the U.S. uses the same pesticide on more than a third of its crops – nearly 143 million acres. Two more pesticides linked to bee death are imidacloprid, and thiamethoxam. These are also used extensively in the US, while they have been taken out of circulation.

All the honey in stores is not only fake, but it also has no #bee pollen. They extract it out with a special machine so they can mix in honey imported from countries like China and India, which is banned from being sold to international markets. Vegan Spaghetti Squash Lasagna 🌱🍝

Ingredients

1 large spaghetti squash about 4 pounds

2 cups tomato sauce

1 cup homemade vegan ricotta

2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

Preheat oven to 425F

Using a large knife, carefully cut spaghetti squash in half. With a spoon, scoop seeds and discard.
Baste olive oil on the inside of each half and season with salt and pepper. Place the squash flat-side down on a baking sheet. Roast in preheated oven for 40 minutes or until soft.

Remove spaghetti squash from oven and lower oven heat to 375F.  Let the squash cool slightly before scraping the inside of the spaghetti squash with a fork to make spaghetti noodles.

In a 9 x 9 oven-safe pan, add a layer of tomato sauce, then a layer of spaghetti squash noodles, and a layer of vegan ricotta. Repeat until all ingredients are used up (we had about 3 layers of squash, 3 layers of sauce, and 2 layers of ricotta in-between - ending with a layer of squash and some extra sauce for decoration). Cover pan with foil and bake in oven preheated to 375F for 20-25 minutes or until sauce begins to bubble

1 bag vegan white chocolate chips

1 tbsp coconut oil

1/2 cup roughly chopped dried cherries

1/2 cup roughly chopped pistachios

1/2 cup goldenberries

1/2 cup goji berries
1/2 cup sliced almonds

2 tbsp hemp seeds

2 tbsp chia seeds .

Instructions

Line a baking sheet with wax or parchment paper.

Combine chips and coconut oil. Microwave chips for 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between until smooth.

Once melted, spread it out in an even layer on your prepared baking sheet, and sprinkle the ingredients on top.
Refrigerate until firm then cut to desired size

However, in more recent studies, Canada has suddenly shot to the top of the list as the country with the highest incidence.

Could Widespread Consumption of Sucralose Explain Skyrocketing IBD Rates?
It’s worth noting here that IBD is different from another condition that sounds very similar, namely irritable bowel syndrome, or IBS.
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is an autoimmune disease that can have very serious consequences, while IBS is a functional bowel disorder. Many IBD patients wind up having extensive sections of their colon removed.

A paper published in the Canadian Journal of Gastroenterology theorizes that the increase in this troublesome disease may be related to the impairment of digestive proteases, caused by the inhibition of gut bacteria by dietary chemicals, such as saccharin and sucralose.
Saccharin fails to provide an explanation for the rise of IBD, as Canada adopted stringent standards for the use of saccharin in 1977 — but this is not the case for sucralose.

Sucralose may be the culprit … In 1991, Canada was the first country to approve the use of sucralose, and it was allowed to be used as a tabletop sweetener and an ingredient in many foods.
The theory that sucralose may be a culprit in the rise of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) appears to be a reasonable one, echoing the results from a 2008 study published in the Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health, which discovered it increases the pH level in your intestines, and reduces the amount of good bacteria in your intestines by 50 percent!
