Shanti Stupa - The Epitome Of Peace.. Since the time of our initial research and planning about places to visit in Leh,this particular monument had been our center of attraction. Shanti Stupa being a place of religious importance has also become a prime tourist attraction as it offers panaromic view of the town.. Japanese Buddhists & Ladakhi Buddhists together constructed this epic monument. It was constructed to promote world peace & celebrate 2500 years of Buddhism.
So this was our last local attraction in Leh. After riding for the whole day in Leh we got a hang of riding in high altitude & also had a good warm up for our next big ride that is Nubra Valley....

Straight Roads Do Not Make Skilful Drivers.. - By Paulo Coelho
Riding in Ladakh made us realise the importance of the above quote.. It was our first ever Bike Trip in mountains that too in the Ladakh Region. We have always enjoyed bike rides but it was limited to a city & nearby places. Mighty mountain passes & treacherous roads became our teacher & taught us what a real bike ride meant. We met a lot of fellow riders on our way, while passing we used to give a thums up, if a biker was stranded we used to stop for help & same thing happened with us which seldom happens in a city. Winding roads had made an invisible bond between all the bikers. It made us more human & it made us feel connected.
More than boosting confidence & improving skill, Ladakh ride made us responsible & humble riders..
Kudos to Ladakh....

This is the view from Tseng Monastery. We never planned to visit this monastery. Our plan was to go to the leh palace which we went & while returning we lost our way & reached here. Unfortunately we couldnt go inside as it was under renovation. So we just clicked a few pictures outside and as you can see you get the view of the whole town from here.
That day we learnt a beautiful lesson that its okay to be lost in life. When you are lost, when you dont expect, life automatically unveils a new page...

Here we are at thikse monastery. There are quiet a lot of places to visit in Leh, however we chose very few from them which you will see in more posts. The idea was to ride around in Leh for a warm up as one of us had planned to ride through out in Ladakh. Overall Leh is quiet an awesome place to be in even if you do not go further.
Food is not a problem at all as there are plenty of cafes serving all cuisines.
The roads in Leh are really awesome to do some joyrides on the bike and there is also an option to cycle around if that’s what you are into.
Theres nothing to talk about the view because if you are in this region every corner is an awesome view.

So this was our 2nd day in Leh !!!
We spent the first day resting and acclimatising. (We took half diamox before breakfast & other half, 30 mins before sleeping everyday)
We were staying at hotel grand dragon although our first choice was Zostel which we believe is on of the best hostels in India but we couldn’t find place there.
We started our day with renting 2 bikes.
This is best option as rentals are not expensive and you generally get bikes in good condition.
