Instagram has touched our lives. This is my wife’s third cancerversary. After surgery my wife and I started to do landscape photography to enjoy the beauty of nature and make the most of each day. We then started posting on @instagram which began the process of healing through photography. What a journey it has been. Being on Instagram opened doors and friendships we couldn’t have imagined.
All my wife wanted was a tour of Instagram to celebrate her third anniversary of life. A friend, @andytupman she met through Instagram made it happen. I didn’t see any “Pink, Look At What We’re Doing For Cancer Displays”. What we saw was compassion and someone taking action. Thanks @Instagram for being the conduit of Kathy’s healing through photography.
Please support @kathryn_dyer In the launch of a Sony Photo Challenge! The purpose of the challenge is for you to push your creativity! The contest will run for the month of September and is open to photographers of all skills levels.
The theme of this month's challenge is strength. There are so many ways we can represent strength through our photography.
For Kathy, this image represents strength because as a breast cancer survivor she always tried to be strong enough to see there was a light at the end of her treatment. Light is always stronger than the darkness but we cannot always see it.
This is only one way to interpret the theme of strength. Submit now through September 30 on Instagram and Twitter with the hashtags #pushingthelens#contest, follow the @sony account on Twitter or Instagram (whichever platform you enter on). (more details and rules at www.sony.com/pushingthelens)
Kathy will be selecting the top five winning entries at the end of the challenge! All five finalists will have their photos professionally printed, framed, sent to them and promoted on all Sony channels! The grand prize winner will also receive a Sony A6500 camera!
Get out there and get creating! Can't wait to see what you come up with! (Shot on A7rii, 85mm, ISO 80, 1/160, f1.8
