Easily the funnest car I've ever driven in my life by miles. This was one of my cleaner laps. There's still tons of room for improvement but I only had about 2 hours of seat time in the car. With that being said the next fastest car was about 8 seconds slower than me. You can forget about street cars and "race cars." Open wheel cars are in a different league. The experience is unreal. Hopefully I'll own one of these someday. #formulamazda
I wonder which one of these cars is me? ;) Lol at my dad narrating. Not to sound like a cocky piece of cheese but no one else attending this school ever got close to reaching the limit of these little Mazdas. These cars are hands down the best thing on 4 wheels I've ever driver. The grip is never ending. Hopefully my GoPro footage turned out!
After getting a ton of time on track with the Viper today I will say this; This is not a car you get in and turn stability and traction control off your first go in it and expect to live. With the systems in "Race" mode they hardly work at all. The stability control is completely defeated and only the traction control remains partially on. Even in race mode it allows a lot of slip angle and if you don't know what you're doing you'll probably crash. 640 horsepower and 600 pound feet of torque is a ridiculous amount of power to track with but completely usable. The car has a ton of grip in the higher speed stuff. The standard pzero tires don't work very well on 90 degree days. The stock brakes are absolutely insane. After 30 minutes of abuse on the track they still never gave up. The stock seats suck and I don't fit in the car at all with a helmet on. The steering is way way way too heavy. Its so heavy you actually get exhausted way faster than normal. Every thing about the viper is heavy and brutal. It's Such a fantastic drivers car though!
I get the privilege of abusing one of these things on track for the next 3 days; as well as a hell cat and a formula Mazda on day 4. My initial impression after driving it on an auto cross course is that I expected so much more torque down low. Sure it has way more torque than 90% of cars on the road, but the power comes on hard at higher revs. The power at 5 grand and above is so insane your vision gets blurry if your not used to a car of this caliper. It literally has a similar power band to an s85, it just doesn't rev nearly as high. The car is so raw and cheesy but I absolutely love it. The heat from the exhaust is burning all the paint off the side skirts and the interior panels are loose. With that being said I'd probably still buy one
