Female | Siberian Husky | 8 months
We would like you to meet Poppi. She’s quite special. You see, when we foster our huskies, it’s a time to get to know them, get them healthy if needed, get their vetwork sorted out, get their house training in order, and be by their sides as they walk along the journey to be their best furry selves.
Poppi is a little bit different, so we need to place an ad to find the right humans for her, rather than the other way around. Read on, and you’ll find out why.
She needs humans that will show her love and be patient with her. A gentle but firm approach, and time spent with her, will be invaluable. She needs a family, or human, that has the patience to build up her trust and confidence, and show her that the world isn’t such a scary place. Children overwhelm her, so she needs a home without young children. Older children who are patient and have experience with handling skills will be suitable.
Poppi needs a home that covers all the basics, such as high and dig-proof fences. Poppi needs regular walks, and she will do best in a home with another husky or two. Doggy friends matter very much to her! Poppi loves the company of her canine companions and relies on them for company and to do zoomies with. She feels most confident with her canine friends, so a doggy companion is a must
Introducing this gorgeous beauty Bella. She is 6 year old black/white husky girl. Bella is beautiful gentle natured girl who is looking for a family who will love her, be patient until she gains their trust and who will make her feel safe and secure. With a little patience and lots of love and affection Bella has transformed from a scared little girl to a lovely confident lady. She has overcome her fears and insecurities, letting humans into her heart and bestowing her trust in them thus feeling no need to jump a fence and run away.
Giving her time to adjust Bella is now getting along famously well and loving the playtime with the rest of the pack.
A very intelligent and smart cookie, Bella is very responsive to training and commands.
Bella is ready for a new adventure with her new furever family. She is very gentle and will come and ask for cuddles and loves to laze around with her family. Her favourite spot is laying next to her humans on the couch.
Once you gain her trust she will faithfully follow you everywhere.
She is currently living with foster siblings Bayley, Kaya and Harvey and she has bonded well with them particularly the younger male. Bella will need a suitable canine pal for companionship.
She adores cuddles from her humans but needs a patient daddy who will work with her and help her gain the trust in the male of the house.
Bella is excellent on the lead, does not pull excessively. She is very intelligent, an excellent student with great intuition and very quick to respond to commands and learn new tricks.
Bella is able to jump or climb over 6 ft fences when frightened or feeling threatened this has been in her settling period. Now she’s settled she no longer wants to escape. She would need to be able to come inside and be with her humans when feeling anxious to help her overcome her fears.
Bella loves to be inside with her family and sleeps inside of a night in her crate most of the time but also likes to sleep outside enjoying some alone time.

Bolt | Male | 10 months
Located in Melbourne
Bolt is a beautiful natured 10 month old Siberian Husky looking for a new home due to no fault of his own. At his young age, he is full of energy and is super excited about the world around him. He is a loving boy who enjoys being around people! He loves cuddles and craves attention. He also likes playing with other dogs his own size. He would definitely benefit from some training to help him socialise better with other dogs. Bolt comes from the family with children who he enjoys playing with, but due to his high levels of energy and playful nature, he would be best suited to a home with older kids.
Bolt is still a puppy and eager to learn, with the right family and time invested into his training, he will grow to make a great family dog.
Like most huskies he is not suitable for homes with cats or pocket pets.
6ft dig proof fencing required
If you are interested in fostering or adopting Bolt, please complete an adoption or foster application on our website: https://homesforhuskies.org.au/adopt/

Taj | Siberian Husky | 22 months old
Nutmeg is a delicious sweet spice that most people adore as part of their special occasion cooking, immediately conjuring up warm memories of time spent with family and friends. When it comes to the warm embrace of our loved ones, nutmeg often plays a role.
On that note, Homes for Huskies would love to introduce Taj, a nutmeg-coloured happy and friendly husky who is looking for a warm embrace and daily exercise in a new family of his own.
Taj is still a young husky at less than two years old, and has a long, healthy life ahead of him. An unusually handsome boy, he’s got a stunning warm brown coat and two ice-blue eyes. He’s a head-turner indeed!
Taj loves being the centre of attention, he loves his walks and thinks humans are amazing! He loves spending time around his people and chooses to sleep inside. I mean, why risk missing out on any of the action?
Check out our website if you want to find out more about Max or submit an application to adopt or foster him www.homesforhuskies.org.au
Handsome Max was spoiled with a well needed groom and a mega nail clip today. Thank you to amazing @happyhuskygrooming for fitting him for an urgent groom. He absolutely loved the experience, and now looks and smells beautifuly. His foster sister showed her approval of his new looks by giving him a sneaky kiss.
Max came into our care last Sunday, with his coat desperately needing a good wash and a brush, but what shocked us the most is the length of his nails. In his past life, Max didn't get to go on walks so his nails didn't get filed on the footpaths like other dogs, and some of them needed a trim by almost a cm!
Also a huge thank you to Momo, for being a wonderful host and keeping Max company all day!
Guess who was busted out of the pound yesterday?!?! Gentle Loki and us are super grateful to Mandy and Michael who busted him out of the pound and then did a 3 hour road trip to their home.
He is a real sweetie, he loved running around and chasing the ball in yard and getting to know his foster siblings. Freedom feels awesome for this deserving boy. Keep an eye on our page, and we will keep you updated on Loki's progress and share his adoption profile as soon as he ready to find his new forever home.
Huge thanks to everyone for sharing our post and helping us get him out of the pound!!!
We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Dion and Debra at the sudden loss of the much adored girl Meki.
A little about Meki’s journey and her life.
Meki was rescued from a terrible backyard as a no longer wanted little girl at the approximate age of 4 years old. She went into foster care with Dion and it was pretty much love at first sight for Meki and Dion. Only a couple days in and a Dion had foster failed ... Meki was Home and was already a very much loved member of the family.
Meki spent five of the best years of her life in her Adoption home, where she was clearly the boss of Kiowa and Blaze and had a loving bond with both boys. She especially loved ganging up on Blaze with Kiowa it was one of her favorite things up do. Meki was also a lover of chasing her favourite ball. She would never chase just any ball it had to be her favorite ball. Once she retrieved it, she would stand at your feet & with it in her mouth, she would flick it up to you (chest high) so you could catch it & throw it again. Such a clever girl and her humans will miss playing this game with her.
Meki was also a great hostess to several other foster dogs that she shared her home and family with to help them on their way to adoption.
Meki was truely a gorgeous girl and will be deeply missed by her loving humans and the boys. ‘If love alone could of kept you here, you would of lived forever’
Run free, sweet girl see you at rainbow bridge

He has settled incredibly well into his foster home and loves playing and doing zoomies with his foster siblings. He is a sweet and cuddly boy that just melts hearts! We will let you know more about Max when is ready to find his furrever home
It has been a week since Mya has been busted out of the pound. She has settled so well with Lauren and Alan her Foster Carers and absolutely adores them, she follows them around the house, sleeps by their bed and loves her daily walks and has been affectionately nicknamed Lady Mya by them.
Yesterday she also had her groom, huge thanks to @happyhuskygrooming who have taken special care of this girl. Her coat was in very bad condition with years of compacted fur as she hasn't been properly brushed or groomed for goodness knows how long. But with tender love and care, after few hours of dedicated brushing and washing she is now looking like the little lady she deserves to be!
Do you remember Husky & Siber, two inseparable seniors? It took a bit of time to find them a perfect home but it was worth the wait! Just look at them now, enjoying the comforts of new home and love of their family
Here is our girl Bella on cat stalking duties that she takes extremely seriously. She has done so well since coming into foster care, thank you to her amazing family for helping her settle into the new life
WE HAVE SOMETHING SPECIAL TO CELEBRATE THIS WEEK!!! Sansa, Arya, Ghost, Summer, Khaleesi and Nova have celebrated their 4th birthday this week. For us, it is a very special milestone, not just because we rescued 6 pups and their mom Kiara as an unwanted family but because this was our first rescue as Homes For Huskies Rescue Inc.
It all began with a road trip into country NSW to pick up the little family. They arrived into Melbourne all malnourished, had Mange, fleas and worms like we had never seen before. They were in terrible condition, it took 8 hours just to get them cleaned up. Kiara had the saddest eyes you have ever seen, she did not know what to do now that she was in good care. About a week later, we also rescued their dad Balto and half sister Lacie.
Fortunately for the pups and their mum, their foster family was just amazing. They had plenty of breed and fostering experience. Their road to recovery and pathway to happiness began here. It took few weeks for the pups to heal and for their sores to disappear. After few months in foster carer pups really came out of their shell. Their foster family dogs have also helped them to learn the boundaries as they were growing up.
Not long after, all of the pups as well as their mum , dad and half sister all found their perfect furrever homes. To this day the families that have adopted these pups and the family stay in touch, and when possible get together for a play date.
This story has a very happy ending, but in reality was a begging to many more rescues and perfect endings.
We want to wish the happiest birthday to the pups, but also take a moment and thank all of our rescue members and families. We could not do the work we do, without you all. Rescue can be a tough journey, but seeing the fluffy kids in their forever homes and getting all the updates, makes every difficult moment so worth it!
We are so pleased to share an update on Mya. Yesterday afternoon we busted her out of the pound, and after a drive down to Melbourne, she has settled into her foster home with her husky foster brother Meeko. We will keep you updated on her progress, and let you know when she is ready to find her furrever home.
She is truly the sweetest little girl and we look forward to her putting on some much needed weight and getting her coat and her healthy We had an overwhelming response to our call for a foster home, thank you to everyone who opened their hearts and offered their homes to Mya. Foster homes are our greatest asset and the resource we need the most. If you are considering fostering or want to know more about what this involves, feel free to reach out to us, and we will be happy to answer all your questions.
The number of dogs we can bring into rescue depends on the amount of foster space we have available. We never have a shortage of dogs needing rescue, and for some, we are their only chance at a second chance.
If you are ready to become a foster carer, complete an application on our website https://homesforhuskies.org.au/foster/
