You Light Up My Life
☆☆Can you ever have enough highlighters??☆☆
I'm still after a few others like the @jeffreestar Skin Frosts, the @dior Airflash, @maccosmeticsuk Extra Dimension Skin finish. And of course I ordered the @anastasiabeverlyhills Nicole Glow Kit but I'm patiently waiting for it to arrive from Canada..!
My favourite formula has to be @beccacosmetics Champagne Pop which I have in both the Splits and as a full pan highlight. The ABH illuminator in Peach Nectar is also excellent and I may like that formula more than the Glow Kit?! Best drugstore has to be Makeup Academy High Glow Beam pigment.
Which are your favourites?
☆☆How do you store your palettes?☆☆
I have my palettes in an acrylic box (Ikea) inside of which sits an acrylic letter organiser (HomeSense). The box sits on top of acrylic drawers which you can see in the pic (MUJI). However it's actually a tower of 3 sets of these drawers so a little precarious! All of this sits on one corner of my Ikea white console table. I'm totally running out of space now so once my house renovation is done I'm going to have to rethink the makeup storage situation. ☆☆I would love to see some ideas! Send me pics of your makeup setup!☆☆
Book: Sorry no book pic today but I have just finished an Adele Parks for bookclub so stay tuned for a pic and mini review coming soon!
Foundations of Life
☆☆ What's your ride or die foundation and why??☆☆ @revlon_uk Colourstay for normal/dry skin in Toast. Perfect formula and coverage but it's a little too dark and slightly too peach undertones for me. Which is why I mix it with @maccosmeticsuk Select Cover foundation. It's too light for me but is hydrating and lightweight so is a perfect foundation lightening mixing medium @lagirlcosmetics Pro HD Foundation in Tan. I've posted about this before its just wonderful as it's hydrating doesn't oxidise or settle into fine lines. It's slightly too dark therefore see a few lines up! @graftobianmakeup HD creme palette in Warm 2. Beautiful cream foundation with very high coverage. It does everything highlight contour bronze conceal. I love it but it's a bit more effort to use so I don't reach for it as often as I should. @kikomilano Second Skin foundation in Warm Beige. So dewy and light and fresh it's perfect for every day especially work. It's very yellow undertoned which I love but I do use a warmer powder to set it i.e. the @kikomilano Sunshine powder foundation in Warm Beige (same shade name lol!) @narsissist Sheer Glow foundation in Syracuse. This is THE ONE!! My holy grail ride or die can't live without. It's the perfect coverage formula colour everything!! Literally been giving me life since 2007! I don't need to adjust the shade or tone and I don't even need to set it if I don't want as it gives the perfect satin finish to my skin. If only it came in better packaging!
☆☆Classic pink lips are always a winner. Do you see any favourites here?☆☆
Book: Just a short story by @stephenking.. "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption" from his compilation Different Seasons. Pure genius story telling it jumps out from the page at you and grabs you from the first sentence. No wonder it made such a killer movie.
☆☆If you had to choose 1 makeup item, what would it be?? ☆☆
For me it's got to be concealer. My HG has to be @narsissist Radiant Creamy Concealer because when I use it, it's like I airbrushed my blemishes and undereye or something..
Book: Mario Puzo's The Godfather. I loved the book even more so than the movie because it really brought some of the sideline characters to life, such as Sonny's story.. ☆
Bralet by @zara Jewellery by @boohoo Powder foundation by @kikomilano Lipstick by @gucci ☆
Some wise words by Khalil Gibran " If you close your eyes you will perceive all things through the depths of your inner self and you will see the world physical and ethereal in its intended entirety"
Has anyone tried the Aqua lipliner by @makeupforeverofficial? They sound so good I would really like to try one of them to see if they live up to their claims.
Lipliners are so essential especially for a matte lip look. My favourites for colour range and payoff are @maccosmeticsuk and @nyxcosmetics. For durability you can't go wrong with @kikomilano Everlasting Precision Lip Colour. I also like @maybelline as the lipliners are lovely and creamy with no drag.
What are your favourites? Do you need to go high end for a good lipliner?
Book: Two versions of Misery by Stephen King. The character of Annie is just so amazing. Psychotic, crazed, obsessive but also damaged and almost childlike and pitiable at times. This is a great introduction to King's writing if you haven't read his fiction and aren't massively into horror, like my other recommendation Dolores Claiborne. Great movie too
Happy Saturday everyone! Here are some skincare heroes I have been loving recently: @caudalie Eau de Beaute mist for a nourishing toner @deciem#theordinaryskincare Hyaluronic Acid 2% serum for intense hydration @narsissist Aqua Luminous Gel Mask to lock the hydration in @renskincare Flash Defence Anti Pollution Mist to protect.
Book: PJ Tracy "Want To Play?". PJ Tracy is actually 2 authors a mother and daughter writing team how cool is that?!? Anyway they write nifty little thrillers which are fast paced and best selling. This was their debut novel about a serial killer who is recreating murders from an online computer game. I really enjoyed the twists and turns in this one and it kept me entertained from start to finish!
Ride or Die Bronzer.. What's yours??
I know I take a lot of pics of this makeup item but 1. It's so so stunning to look at. Even more so in real life as one of the shades has very tiny luminous shimmer to it and 2. It's just such a beautiful formula! Sephora killed it with their Sundisk..
Book: The horribly tragic story of little Jamie Bulger- a toddler brutally murdered by two 10 year old boys in the 1990s. I don't own a huge true crime collection but some stories we just can't shake free of. So many unanswered questions as to why two children murdered a third.. Very very sad.
