Artists: @vendelali & @harisnukem
Curated by: @amandajmicallef (Arsenic's founder)
We think @vendelali is as dope as they come & everything we want to stand for at #Arsenic. She's beautiful, bold & badass. One of the things we say most at the Arsenic House is "just do you" and she totally represents that idea.
@amyjanebrand was one of the first girls we shot with. Back at the OG #Arsenic House. (How Arsenic started below)
Artists @amyjanebrand@neildixonphoto @Arsenic was just imagination back then. We hadn’t even formed a company. One of the co-founders (@iambillyhawkins) had a house in Laurel Canyon… the perfect place for pool parties. The other co-founder (@amandajmicallef) loved to produce on set. There were often models at those pool parties and the house had a dope vibe, so a lotta times the models asked to shoot there. So @amandajmicallef started producing shoots with those models… and she only had one rule - the shoots would be #ModelDriven. Fuck the idea of a model being treated like a damn mannequin. @amandajmicallef put the models in position of being the creative directors, photographers and bosses of their own shoots. She was doing it just for fun. But word spread and people started buzzing about the shoots up at the “Arsenic House.” @amandajmicallef tried to get @iambillyhawkins to leave his job at an agency. At first he was like hell nah. He had a good job. Starting a magazine sounded fucking mental. But when she dug his idea of crowd-sourcing the “magazine” to make it FOR THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE they decided to do the damn thing.
From the beginning of #Arsenic we’ve always loved feeling free in nature. The first Arsenic House had these beautiful flowers all around the pool. You’d see a shot with those flowers and you knew it was the Arsenic House. Nature is a reminder of the beauty all around us. A reminder that the limitations we perceive are from society telling us what we can do. We are born knowing no boundaries and no shame. Arsenic believes in a pure freedom that flows from kindness.

Sometimes sexuality is controversial. At Arsenic we don’t understand why. Most people have had sex. If it weren’t for sex none of us would have been born. We believe that a celebration of beauty is a celebration of art, of life, of love. We believe that people should have the freedom to express themselves creatively with kindness to others, but not restrictions and censorship from the system. Life is for living. Shine your light. Be your dream version of who and what you want. And never fear the judgement of others. There judgements say more about them than they say about you.
(@thekrisondra) Y’all know about @thekrisondra?
In her own words: When everything seems wrong, is actually when everything is right. Sometimes life shows you shadows so you can become light. Find your inner yin and yang and you will be at peace. #VibeIsAnEnergy
In our words: @thekrisondra is a standout. She’s a dope host and personality. She’s a tomboy who grew up riding motorcycles. You should see her ride a dirt bike - she tears shit up. She’s loyal and so down for her family. We love seeing that heart of gold. And she puts the work in. Smart. On her grind. Believe @thekrisondra.
The Arsenic way of life is living wild and free. Leading with kindness and acceptance. Open to adventure. Unafraid of judgement. Giving no fucks about conventional rules. And knowing that a woman is wonderful in all of her glory as a sexual being, as a work of art, as a leader, as an intellect, and more.
(@arsenicaudio) @daniellasmithmusic submission ^
Her words (@daniellasmithmusic ): “My mission is to have a role in celebrating the body. Celebrating where we come from. Ridding ourselves of the stigma, because we can only be free and offer our best gifts when we break through the shame and repression that is put onto us by society.”
We’ve been watching @daniellasmithmusic as she’s submitted some work to Arsenic and begun to interact with our squad and the community. She’s inspiring. We’ve watched and listened to the videos of her singing as she plays guitar and she’s got legit talent as a music artist. In addition she uses her body as an art form as she blends photography and yoga (she’s a yoga teacher, modern dancer). She’s working on a currently creating a special project where she’s choreographic a nude performance dance piece.
@brennahblack & @johnnycinematic killed it on this one
We have a lot of respect for @brennahblack & @johnnycinematic. @brennahblack is Pottawatomi Native American, speaks her mind, knows what she wants, and gets it. She’s primarily an actress, but she’s loving modeling and says she’s passionate about creating. She just had her first visit to the Arsenic House. She says she’s “always been obsessed with Arsenic, because Arsenic has a unique eye for art and beauty.” She has a lot of respect for Arsenic’s female founder @amandajmicallef. Both her and @johnnycinematic are both from Austin. @johnnycinematic approaches photography from a filmmaking perspective. He’s an actor, director, writer, and of course photographer. He’s constantly pushing the boundaries of the art, the craft, and formats around social media. Look out for his upcoming secret project outside of photography.
Why? Because art has always been a major part of the Arsenic community. From early on we’ve collaborated with artists in our shoots and #Forbes even did a blurb about the art event we participated in at #ArtBasel. The art hanging at the #ArsenicHouse is all from artists in our community who “loan” us the art (we love having it, and they get the benefit of all the audience and influencers who are exposed to it). On @arsenicgallery we feature submissions, work from artists in our community, and we curate dope visuals we see out in the world. And beyond fine art, we actually consider all of our models and photographers artists too, because the spirit of creations is strong in our community.
We remember when she just moved from Australia and had like 10k followers. She came to shoot at the OG Arsenic House and she immediately made an impression. There were like 6 models shooting at the house that day, but all eyes went to Tina. She lit things up and her smile & laugh made her instantly likeable. She didn't rest on just being loveable though. She was on her grind. Woke up at 4am to post in the morning to time things right for her Australian followers. She listened, learned, took advice, gave advice. And she built brick by brick a personal brand for herself. Now she goes anywhere and everywhere in the world she wants... VIP... all paid for. She's living the dream, but didn't get there by dreaming alone. Tina worked for it and earned it!
Curator @amandajmicallef (Arsenic’s founder)
In the words of @amandajmicallef “Andja big brown eyes connect with you, it feels like you’re right there with her. She has a warm smile that makes you want to be her friend but mostly you can tell she’s a free spirit, totally comfortable with her body, her sexuality and who she is. She’s not worried about if like her, she likes herself, and that’s what matters.”
(@arsenicfamily) We don’t usually post celebs, but shout to @emrata for her quote, that couldn’t be more #Arsenic, "If you can't take a woman seriously because you've seen her body, that's on you."
You can follow @arsenicfamily to see all the Arsenic happenings behind the scenes, like our @Arsenic Town Hall meeting from Friday. Several women spoke up to say they love what Arsenic stands for: that a woman can be sexy and more than sexy all in one woman. They said that too often if a woman is perceived as sexy, it’s assumed she must not be as smart, or capable, or talented, or valuable. But that at Arsenic it’s clear that if a woman chooses to be sexy it is by no means mutually exclusive with all of the other amazing and wonderful things a woman can be!
We liked this submission because of her caption “if people are not laughing at your goals, you’re not dreaming big enough.” Love that shit. Dream big @deisy_leonn and then go get that shit. By the way Someone asked us how many followers you need to have for us to fuck with you... you don’t even need 1
@martamielczarskaa by @caseylorzphoto submission
The dope thing about @martamielczarskaa is the brains and the hustle. She’s a certified personal trainer who has transformed her body. Not just by heard work but through education. When she was with the #Arsenic squad in #Chicago, she was always teaching us something about health, body, and fitness. Her body is her own work of art and she continues to kill it and grow.
When @saraunderwood (her shot by @christopher.james) shot at the @Arsenic House she was so kind. She gave off this positive energy like sunshine. She knew exactly what she wanted to achieve in her shoot, which she led the creative direction of, yet she still took time to learn more about #Arsenic. She was also very open about her personal journey and life. It takes confidence to speak openly about vulnerabilities. It’s dope to see her continue to spread her wings and shine.
