H E L L O
QOTD - Have you ever met people thanks to bookstagram ? If yes, who ?
First, let me get this straight : I am not trying to show off or anything ! I genuinely want to share my experience at the book fair and tell you how it was ! So please, keep that in mind.
Here is most of what I had signed, bought, or presents I got at #LivreParis last weekend !
If you've missed my story on Tuesday, here is a quick and short sum up of this weekend !
• I met about 13 authors ! Most of them are French. The other authors were American (Marissa Meyer, VE Schwab, Neal Schusterman, Sarah Dessen, Shira Anthony, Marie Sexton, Damon Suede, KC Wells, ...)
• I got 27 autograph (1/3 of them are by @marissameyerauthor ) • I had a bunch of cute cards and bookmarks ! (My collection is growing !!)
• I met amazing girls. I actually went to the Bookfair by myself and thanks to that I did all I wanted to do and even met more authors than I planned to. And thanks to that I got to talk to people whilst waiting ! •
I actually noticed something during that weekend :
French authors tend to talk more to you. They start a conversation with you. They genuinely want to know if you enjoyed their book (if not, why) and which character(s) you love ! You can even ask questions. Moreover their autographs are, like, 5 lines long.
In the other hand, American authors don't take time to talk to you. They sign (your name w an exclamation point and their signature). It takes 2seconds to do all that. You, then, take a quick (blurry) picture and you are done !
I talked about that to another American author and he totally agrees w me. That is the reason why he enjoys European bookfairs more.
H E L L O !
How are you all doing ? •
Today is a great day ! A friend of mine started my favourite trilogy -Captive Prince by CS Pacat- and I am so excited to be able to discuss about the story with her ! I might reread it soon too.
Hey, how are you !
QOTD : Have you ever attended a book fair ? Why (books signings, ARCS, premieres, the atmosphere) ?
I only attended book fairs a few times and that was amazing ! (Especially for autographs. Haha)
I am actually at Livre Paris (Parisian Book Fair) right now.
There are so many authors, that's amazing !
I came for Marissa Meyer, Neal Schusterman, VE Schwab and other m/m French authors !
I'll try to have at least 5 books signed but it's always great to dream.. Haha
Wishe luck !
MARCH 1ST #BookishRandomThings #BeautyOfTheMarch
Let's start off this month with a nice TBR. I am pretty sure this one will not be respected. March is going to be a hell of the month for me -and my classmates-. Classes will be dense, assignments will be longer, we will be drowning in exams and I have the Parisian bookfair to attend to !
Though, I hope I -at least- read one of those books and enjoy it. I honestly have pretty high expectations for every single one of them.
Anyway, bear with me and support me in this hell I will be going through. Haha
Oh! I almost forgot. I also have lots of mangas and manhwas I am aiming to read this month. Most of them are actually updates I am excited for. I never talked about mangas on my Instagram but if you want some recommendations, I can help !
Hey, hey, hey ! How are you doing on this beautiful day ?
QOTD : Have you a read a lot lately ? How many books and which one ?
I just got of an awfully long reading slump ! I haven't anything (except manhwas and mangas) in the last couple of weeks. But I recently decided to fight that demon and read ! And so I read, and read, and read. Until I got tired of reading, again.. Which means I can't read a lot now. My brain is messing with me.
Anyway, I got to read 3 books and am currently reading one (really slowly tbh)
Fast Connection (#Cyberlove book 2) by Megan Erickson and Santino Hassell.
The fist two books are great. Even though book 1 has too many explicit scenes for my liking. (I am not a huge fan of that kind of stuff.) Book 2 has less, I think ?
The characters are interesting and there are more supporting characters than in book one. Well, the main character is Fast Connection is actually one of the only supporting characters in book 1. Scorpio Hates Virgo (#SignsOfLove book 2) by Anyta Sunday.
That was disappointed, to be honest. I've set my expectation pretty high because book 1 was great ! Moreover it was an enemies-to-friends-to-lovers kinda plot. Which is something I absolutely love.
Yet, I haven't understood anything. I kept reading because I HAVE TO FINISH every book I start. Broken by Nicola Haken.
This one is a re-read. And I enjoyed it even more than the first time !!!! It's difficult to give this book a short review. But let me tell you : IT IS SO WORTH YOUR TEARS, SMILES, ANGST, SADNESS AND HAPPINESS. How To Be A Normal Person by TJ Klune
So far, I can't stop laughing. It is so good !
What if we are not the only beings ? What if aliens existed ?
I don't really believe in Aliens and OVNIs whatsoever.
However I find this subject really interesting !
Do you believe in aliens ? Or any other kind of life in the universe ?
Anyway, this book as been making eyes at me and I really want to read it. But it is not on top of my TBR at the moment. I still plan to read it this year though !
The plot is really interesting and is something i like to read. We all dream of going back in time and erase mistakes we made and save people we love.. It reminds me of a manhwa I read not long ago : Back in time to you, by Indigo. It made me cry so hard. But the 2nd alternative ending made me feel better and happy ! I really recommend it.
Hey, you ! How are you ?
I hope you are having an amazing day !
Today's sunny in Paris, work starts at 5 and I have all day to read or watch videos !
2017 was a really great reading year for me. I planned on reading 50 books but actually read around 120 books -haven't counted most of the mangas I read though- !
I really enjoyed moat of the books. Especially the ones I read between August and December !
One of them was Broken by Nicola Haken. It is published in France by @mxmbookmark -which is an amazing mm publishing house by the way- !
The story and the characters are interesting and really well developed !
It deals with issues like self harm, suicide attempts, bipolarity and more. It also deals with love and support and it is amazing.
I really recommend this book if you can read mm (gay) love stories !
However, be careful. There are some triggers. Such as the ones I mentioned earlier -suicide and self harm-, mentions of blood. And if you hate quickies -i do too-, the beginning of the book is not for you. Haha
Spring is on its way and I am too excited about it !
It's actually really sunny outside and the only thing I want to do is go out and spend some time in a garden. But unfortunately I can't.
How is your day going ?
Quick edit - I don't have twitter (hacked) and only heard about James Dashner's behaviour today. As a fan of the books and franchise I am deeply shocked by what he has done and am really disappointed. Therefore, I will stop supporting the author but will always love the characters and story he created. They don't deserve him. As for the victims.. I feel very sorry.
And here goes another #booktag. The last one from @breathewordscarol (too lazy to do the others. Ha ha ha)
Let's go !
BOOKMARK, PAPERCLIPS OR DOGEARS?
Dogears, sacrilege ! Paperclips, meeeeh. I am always they may damage the pages. I definitely prefer bookmarks. I have a collection of them, actually !
DO YOU IMAGINE YOURSELF LIVING IN A FICTIONAL WORLD ?
I don't know. Maybe. Yes ? It's just that our world is so messed up right now. I think I would prefer living in a fantasy world. A calm one. No wars, no fight, no death, no anything. Just peace and calm and serenity.
TALL BOOKS OR SHORT BOOKS ?
Tall book, definitely. No too big though. The British editions !
DO YOU HAVE A BOOK BOYFRIEND ?
A book boyfriend ? I have TONS of book boyfriends !
DARKEST BOOK SECRET ?
I spilled tea on about 5 mangas. They weren't even mine. I had to buy them for my friend after that. It wasn't even my fault. My travel mug opened in my bag....
