It’s about effort!!!! Did you know that when you put effort (as opposed to just going through the motions), your body releases hormones that tell it to burn fat and preserve muscle!? High intensity exercise is relative. What may be intense for you might not be intense for someone else and vice versa. Sure it’s great if you have the habit of showing up everyday but if you feel like you’re hitting a plateau, turn up your effort! Turn up the intensity. Maybe you go faster, maybe you lift heavier, maybe you challenge your body by doing something it’s not used to. That’s when change happens. As we age our bodies naturally decrease in lean mass and our metabolism declines but with proper exercise and nutrition aka β€œeffort”, we can combat that and be younger than our chronological age.
On that note, I had a killer workout today! Here it is:
3 sets of:
5 min AMRAP with 2 min rest
7 Handstand Pushups
7 Toes to Bar
7 Heavy Deadlifts
7 Box Jumps
7 DB snatch (each arm)

It was brutal, but so worth it! Happy Tuesday to me!!! πŸ’ͺ🏽πŸ’ͺ🏽 Thanks @officialdanwells for the great workout!!!!

It's funny because sometimes I forget that I actually fit in this category. It's not that I forgot how hard I work, but I look in the mirror and don't really think I look "fit". Yeah I know ... dumb, right? Last week I was out in public and I was stopped by strangers asking what I do. And then I overheard some people saying how buff I looked when they approached the booth I was working at a health fair this week. I'll take that compliment lol. And then the other day someone thought I looked like someone I think is way more fit than me. That was a huge compliment lol. Anyways what I'm trying to say is that I guess that consistent hard work pays off and you for sure cannot hide it. You can't steal it. You can't borrow it. I swear I have to teach this to everyone I meet! YOU ARE YOUR GREATEST ASSET!!! Take care of you first and the rest will fall in place. You'll feel better. You'll think clearer. You'll make better decisions for yourself, for your work, for your finances, for your health, etc. You'll be a better partner, sibling, friend, parent. And all of that leads to you feeling more motivated to keep going. I hear it all the time where people put other people first, or they put their job first... which is okay and nothing wrong with that ...but at the end of the day if it's being detrimental to your health, you need to fix it. Take care of YOU! Three things I highly recommend - find time to workout, fuel yourself with nourishing food, and get proper sleep. There are little choices you can make each day that will result in a healthier you. You can do it!
