This is on the window in my office at practicum, and I LOVE this message. It’s such a valuable lesson, not only for my patients, but for everyone. Whether the pain be temporary, chronic, mental, or physical, we have a choice about whether or not we suffer in the pain. It can come as a surprise to people that they don’t have be miserable while they are hurting, and this gives them hope! I think about this a lot in the middle of work outs I want to quit or days I want to give up. -

I made a really awesome lunch and this is all I have left to show you guys πŸ™ˆ tuna steak, red potatoes, and salad with feta, dried cranberries, and homemade balsamic vinaigrette πŸ˜‹ hubby was pleased and my body is happy to have yummy, healthy food for lunch! I’ll be honest, #mealprep and healthy eating are thorns in my side. I’m trying to be better about sticking to my meal plan, and I’m also trying to be forgiving to myself when I slip up. -

I tried sushi for the first time ever a few days ago - spicy California roll. Not going to lie, I was pleasantly surprised! Now I’ve just #fullbody and I want more! It’s been an embarrassingly long time since I posted on here and my workout performances have been just as sad ☹️ it took me a few weeks to get through #bbgweek11 because then I was out of town and this week I got a cold. I kept up on my LISS pretty well but resistance training and diet, not so much. Yeah I wanted to give my body time to rest, but if I’m being honest I was also having a pity party about how bad I felt and how stressed I was. HOWEVER, I’m finally onto week 12 (I started in the middle of this week) but I’m taking it slow as I’m still coughing and a little sniffly. I will say I’m proud because this is the farthest I’ve ever made it in the program πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ™ŒπŸ» still trying to figure out how to balance workouts, healthy eating, classes, practicum, work, dissertation, marriage and self-care, but I’m getting better everyday! -

I struggle with HUUGE amounts of guilt when it's crunch time on a paper, project or test. I can't work out without thinking that I should be studying. I can't eat dinner without noticing my laptop and textbooks over in the corner. I can't drive in the car without thinking that I should be mentally rehearsing the information. It's unhealthy, it raises my #stress level through the roof, and it makes me cranky all the time because I feel bad about what I "should" be doing. I have a giant #comps test in one week 😡 but I know I need to take care of myself before and after the test, which includes making time for exercise, eating, and some relaxation. It also means not binging on unhealthy foods to cope. So I did my workout today and then studied. And I'll enjoy dinner and then study. And I'll go to bed at a decent time and do it all again tomorrow. If there's one thing I've learned through #gradschool about life is IT'S ALL ABOUT BALANCE and making sustainable choices. A lesson I'm slowly but surely learning. -

Two things to note: first, I started counting #macros this week. Turns out I'm not hitting carbs or protein in my diet but I've been just right on fats πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ and I'm not eating enough calories in a day. Ideas? -
Second, I go back to school and practicum full time this week and every year this is where my progress tanks. #gradstudent πŸŽ“ I struggle to find time for workout, I don't have time to cook clean meals, and my stress levels are high. BUT my motivation is also high this year (much more than previous years) so I think I can keep at it! -
