SENIOR SUNDAY! @susiesseniordogs wants to know: has Candy caught your eye?! This 12 year old sweet-tart is looking for her forever candy crush! Before getting rescued, little Candy lived a life of neglect. The final straw was when she fell off a balcony - likely because she could not see and she walked off the ledge while nobody was watching her. Thankfully, Candy was brought to @animalhaven shelter in Manhattan, NYC and received a whole lot of vet care. Candy is now up for adoption and ready to find a responsible forever home. This little senior sugarpop is looking for her equally sweet, special someone!
Candy is completely blind but it does not hinder her ability to love one bit! She also has a few "old lady growths" but is otherwise OK. She weighs just 10 pounds. Candy's ideal home would be one that is filled with lots of quiet time to relax and simply hangout during the day. Candy does not need much other than a human who enjoys pampering old pups! She gets along with other calm and friendly dogs and cats - but a home without rambunctious toddlers would be best for Candy. She loves to eat and to be spoiled and would truly thrive in a doting home.
If you wish to learn more about Candy, please visit her at @animalhaven shelter located at 200 Centre Street, Manhattan, NYC. Adoption hours are Tuesday through Sunday from 12 noon to 7PM. (@animalhaven currently has many senior dogs in their care who are looking for adopters, please visit the shelter and ask to meet with a senior!)
ATTENTION NEW YORK! This St. Patrick’s Day, the @aspca is celebrating St. Pitties Day! Tomorrow (March 17) and Sunday (March 18) the ASPCA Adoption Center in NYC will reduce adoption fees for adult Pit Bull mixed breed dogs to $17 (regularly $75 - $250). By lowering adoption fees, they’re hoping to give these dogs some extra luck finding their forever homes! If you’re interested, be sure to stop in this weekend! SENIOR SUNDAY! @susiesseniordogs has the BEST news! So excited to announce that 11 year old Stella was ADOPTED!!! This beautiful, elder borzoi found forever love in the twilight of her life. Senior dogs make wonderful companion pets and her new parents, Taylor and Matt, instantly recognized what a gem Stella is. They officially adopted her last weekend and miss Stella made the long road trip home with her new family - they even stayed in a hotel on their way back home! For over four months Stella had no adoption interest. But all thanks to one couple - who realized that age is truly just a number - Stella now gets to live out her life as a cherished family member. However much time Miss Stella has left on earth, the important thing is that when it comes time for her to leave this world she will always be so loved and forever remembered.
Taylor wrote, "My husband and I saw Stella in early February and her face grabbed our hearts. She didn’t have much adoption interest due to her age and diabetes. I contacted her foster mom that same day about Stella and 3 weeks later my husband and I were planning a trip to pick her up and bring her home with us.
Thanks to her former foster mom, Stella’s diabetes was under great control when we got her and is continuing to be managed well by my husband and me (Stella now has 2 veterinarians as her dog parents!). Stella is an amazing dog and has settled right into our home. She is our first senior dog adoption and we are so happy to have her in our home. She now has 3 whippet brothers and enjoys exploring the backyard with them. She is slowly warming up to them - they are younger than her and very silly. (Stella is very mature and not sure if she wants to partake in their shenanigans yet.) She is the sweetest dog and we are so happy to be her forever home."
