Throwing it way back to Dime Salon days! This is an all scissor haircut no clippers on the sides just trimmers to clean up the neck.-------------------who else loves doing cuts where you don't have to use your clippers?!
Sometimes you have to sit back and really think hard why you do what you do every day. This was a very tough question I asked myself for years and it took me forever to really understand why I cut hair and why I love cutting hair. It really does push you knowing the "why", it keeps you motivated and passionate. I once heard the average a person stays in the hair industry is around 5-8yrs then like 50% fall off (those statistics could be extremely off so please don't quote me on that lol) but all I'm saying is really search for your personal "why". Why you do what you do. Also this is @ovo_duenas with a sweeet slick back low taper. ----------------------------

It's always a dance party with @james_colemanator. We were talking about how to make a cool video for Snapchat with this cut. He was explaining to me how to do some fun visual stuff that just makes content better. I haven't gotten it down but that's just what practice is for. So here's a little time lapse of his visit
Inguinal hernia repair going down tomorrow at 1pm. Thank you everyone who made me food, got me snacks and simply just has been there with good hangs in preparation for the surgery. You guys rock, since I barely remember what it feels like to be healthy and pain free (especially in my balls area) lol I'm pretty freakin stoked for this surgery tomorrow. I'll keep y'all updated.
Got to hang with a rad local, super motivated, super encouraging barber last night! I'm really trying to get back to working on the hair community in Las Vegas. I've seen many people say they want to better the Las Vegas community of hairstylists then end up using other stylists to further their own agendas. I have a different mindset of the "why" I want to connect with people in this city and this dude @randallroncal is rad and straight forward. He just wants to learn how to style hair. He can already cut hair like a bad ass mofo but now he wants to further his blow drying skills and I'm totally into that. I'll tell anyone my "secrets", I don't see them as secrets they are just what I've learned through this adventure I've had in hair. Go give @randallroncal a follow and support another passionate Las Vegas artist. Also caught him reppin a @downtownvintagebarbers jacket support your local peeps, peeps.
Last night I met up with a few long time buddies of mine @mikehammlv@kris_chico and we got down on some social media knowledge. My buddy @kris_chico is a social media marketing madman and is really blowing my mind with the stuff I can use on Facebook and Instagram to further my business. Had a blast last night, enjoy!
TOOLS: First off can't cut without my @ysparkusa 339 comb. It's a staple in my arsenal. (Left to right)
HH 4 6.5 The Menuki is my workhorse. Scissor over comb and deep point cutting all day. Next is my detailed HH 6 5.5 The Kime, this guy gets in the small places I can't with a larger shear. Great for precision haircuts and adding texture to shorter hair. Love creating shapes with that lil guy. And last is my HH 40T The Mazeru, takes out bulk and blends evenly. I DO NOT USE TEXTURE SHEARS ON THE SIDES OF MENS HAIR TO HELP BLEND. In my experience using texture shears on the sides of mens hair is a cheat or easy way out of truly blending the hair. A cut that used all shears on the sides compared to a cut that used texture shears on the sides will grow out more evenly and less frizzy in 4 weeks. What do you think???
@702lonewolf plottin his next move. Has a blow dryer changed your hairs life yet? It's possible, ask your stylists/barber to teach you how to change your hair with a blowdryer. If they don't know how it's time to find a new stylist/barber.
@yoitsjojo16 is another long time buddy of mine. It took me a year or so to convince him to grow some length on top and to let me cut it a lil shorter on the sides. We now do a #1 on the sides instead of a #3 always a good time bud.
If you don't have 2018 planned already it's definitely time to start thinking out it! It's coming up quick and you HAVE to stay motivated. What are some of your goals? Are they personal goals or career goals? They kind of fit hand in hand and help out each other don't you think? Tell me one small goal you have!
Fun design on @jfresshhh !!! I don't do a lot of designs but it's always fun to get out of your comfort zone! What other hairstylists do barber type work? Or do you pass and recommend them to go to a barber shop??
Scissor cut with some MASSIVE volume I say this all the time but your blowdryer is what makes or breaks a haircut. If you can't finish your hair with a solid blow dry does it matter how good the haircut is? Finished with @1821manmade Paste
I've really been enjoying my shears for precision work. It's challenging and because of that challenge I'm in the cut 100 percent of the time. Each snip thinking what will happen and what my next move will be. It's a cautious, thought out process and is a good change up to clipper work. I have the raddest clients ever letting me be creative with their hair identity
