Day 23 of #myhouseinseptember is 'you must try this' and I know I've banged on about this before but this homemade granola is so easy to make and tastes so much better than shop bought. Great with yoghurt and homemade fruit compote, using up fruits from the garden. It's a BBC good food recipe for 'good for you granola'. Worth a try!
Have a wonderful weekend
Day 19 of #myhouseinseptember is 'I'm proud of this' and has to be our garden.
The basis was most definitely there but over time had become overgrown. I've thoroughly enjoyed learning about the plants in the garden, how best to care for them and once thinned out picking complimentary planting to bring colour throughout the seasons. It brings us so much satisfaction and pleasure, even although it is a lot of hard work. ️ Have a wonderful day
Just love this time of year, it's a misty morning with us, typically atmospheric autumn, with cones on the trees catching the eye, or flashes of reds and golds of the Acers.
I've struggled a bit with today's theme for #myhouseinseptember which is what was I thinking, and thankfully the 80s fashion, dodgy fringe and dungashorts (still shiver at the thought of that fashion faux pa!) are not accessable photos to post. Also my face is a bit of a give away to what I'm thinking, can be a bit of a daily hazard, as my eye rolling, furrowed brow or sarcastic grin get me into trouble!!
So I'll let nature sum up my thoughts for the day, calming, colourful and abundant. I've family coming for lunch today and with yesterday spent prepping I'm hoping that's how my day will go, with not an eye roll in sight.
Day 16 of #myhouseinseptember is favourite corner and I'm struggling to pick just one corner so I've opted for what I can see right now, my bedside table.
Mr B off downstairs to get us coffees, Saturday vibes!
Have a wonderful weekend all!
Day 14 of #myhouseinseptember is insta v's reality and whilst I am thankfully through our renovations, I know many of you lovely lot are still in the reality of renovating you beautiful homes. As someone who has come out the other side hopefully this look back gives you a boost to keep going, stay sane and keep a sense of humour, which sadly I must admit I lost on a few occasions.
Here is my insta v's reality.. swipe....
The first photo is our completed breakfast and family room, the second and third are mid way through ( yes we found a safe in the floor having taken up 2 layers of floor tiles, and if anyone is thinking what was in it, it was empty! - We've since taken it out) and finally our make shift kitchen in a bedroom. I foolishly thought we would only be in the makeshift kitchen a few weeks but we were there for 3 months in the end. The night we came home to that room flooded from the works to the bathroom next door, as we moved onto mains pressure was a real low point as our little corner of sanctuary was turned upside down!!
All that said, I can vouch that the constant layer of dust will come to an end, you will be able to walk about in your bare feet again, the many decisions to be made on everything will no longer be the focus of your evenings and the builders will leave, just hang in there - it will so be worth it!
Day 13 of #myhouseinseptember is bargain hunt and my best buys this summer have to be our home grown veggies. The warm spring seemed to create a perfect environment for growing and our tomotoes have been particularly prolific. I took this photo at the weekend having just picked a full bowl full of ripe ones, we still have so many coming. Definitely my bargain of the summer #homegrownfood#greenhouse#tomatoes#mygarden#bargain#growyourown
Day 12 of #myhouseinseptember is time and as I'm in Glasgow with work and a bit short on time I'm going with some actual 'thyme' from our garden which I have in abundance! The herbs are at one side of a raised bed with strawberries at the other and my thyme is doing so well it's merging with the strawberry plants. Bit of thinning out required in the next few weeks I think.
Morning, happy Monday!
Day 11 of #myhouseinseptember is softly softly and I've mentioned before we have blankets to hand on the arms of most chairs, ready to pull over at a moments notice, to instantly feel cosy. This one is in the snug, sporting some tartan, to tie in with the plaid curtains and largely Scottish countryside theme.
Have a wonderful day, I'm heading to Scotland myself this morning for a couple of days with work. Hopefully it's not too cold and wet.
One of my favourite parts of autumn! Strictly is back !!!! Fire is on, have my cashmere diamontie pumps on (don't ask.. it's as close as I get to dancing shoes) and scoring paddles at the ready .... to much ?? Never! #scd#strictlycomedancing#keepdancing#missyoubrucie
Day 9 of #myhouseinseptember is pattern and textile and I've opted for this corner of our ensuite bathroom. I love the pattern of the #firedearth floor tiles together with the openwork of the little side table for candles and body cremes, (handy for a little glass of bubbles too!) topped off with the textures of the bathmat and towels.
Hope you all have a wonderful day!
To the lovely Samantha @at_home_in_the_meadows, for the #widn I'm up and about early this morning as Mr B arrives back from a 2 week trip overseas with work, looking forward to having him home and heading out later for a spot of lunch.
like to play if you have time.
Thanks to the lovely @at_home_in_the_meadows for flagging a new hashie! #myspaceanddecor hosted by @the_indigo_house. Great way to find some decor inspiration! Looking forward to seeing some wonderful ideas. Dining room snap from me, with symmetrical placing of candles on the mantle.
