Chili visiting @centrovetpanama for the first time! He is having conversations with all the birdies here hahah
The vet check up went great. He is a healthy boy!
On Thursday I will bring him to get his beak trimmed.
For this week, they will be living in separate cages right next to each other. We want the introduction to go smoothly and don’t want any territorial issues ....so.... they will not be using #LuckysRetreat just yet!
Next week they will be in actual contact for the first time and then we will decide when it’s time for them to share a space. After that, when Lucky is finally ready, they will both move to #LuckysRetreat
SO FAR SO GOOD:
They are both talking and getting to know each other and its great! Im so happy! #LuckyAndChili
He was born and raised at a friends house, who gave him to me as a gift. Chili lived with a couple other birds, but he was pushed aside a lot – I guess birds can also be bullies!
Poor guy, he was such a #thirdwheeler
My friend knew my case and decided to offer me to keep Chili so that he could be Lucky’s companion.
A couple months ago I visited Chili and fell in love!! (So so tough not sharing that night with you guys LOL)
All in all, I hope you all welcome him with tons of love!!
• male • born March 2014
I think they loved each other
I will be taking Chili for a checkup tomorrow - our vet wants to meet him. We will then decide when is the right time to put them both in the same cage. We have to make sure that Lucky is 100% recovered! #LuckyAndChili#BlueHeadedPionus#JendayConure
SURPRISE - First encounter
You’ve all been begging me to get Lucky a companion!
The truth is, for a few months now we’ve had Chili as an option, but we were waiting for Lucky to be ready, out of surgery and recovered. Well, the time has come!!!
Welcome home baby Chili! #LuckyAndChili#BlueHeadedPionus#JendayConure
Oh yeah ...Chili is a BOY
Learn more about Chili in the next post!
#LuckysRetreat in the making!
Today he visited his retreat for the first time, I can’t begin to explain the feeling I got. He was SOOO happy.
While I was placing sticks and trunks around, he was playing and getting to know his space. It was perfect.
I am terrified of him falling off and hurting himself so I will be placing a ton of sticks and trunks around so that he can move around easily.
Any ideas are welcome!
Because he can’t move in yet (still in recovery), I have all the time in the world to fill it up decorate it.
♀️ To be honest, I feel that I am decorating a room for my first child. That is my level of excitement. #CrazyBirdLady
#checkup after surgery. Stitches are out and he is recovering smoothly!!!
The vet wants to see him in 5 days for another checkup. He sent Lucky home with a healing spray for the wound.
MALE or FEMALE?
The lab “lost” the results...yep, we are pissed, so we are waiting to see if they find them today. If not, we will be repeating the DNA test.
#BirdHuffing So, yesterday I learned that #SmellingBirds it’s a thing and we all love it!
After posting this story yesterday, I received countless messages of you guys telling me that I am definitely not alone! Hahah
I guess I am not the only crazy #BirdLady after all. Thoughts? #birdsmell
I’m always adding new kinds of food so that he expands his pallet.
Today I added a BIT of rice and it was OK haha not his fav! Walnuts were yummier I guess!
His diet consists of 80% pellets, fruits & veggies and 20% seeds and nuts
Foods he : orange, papaya, banana, baked sweet plantain, grapes, baked sweet potato, dried papaya, seeds, nuts, carrots, dried coconut, and more!
Foods he is ♀️ with: pellets (he eats them, but doesn’t go crazy over them)
Foods he : apples, kiwi, rice (apparently)
Every single morning I offer him fresh fruits and veggies! (As well as pellets)
FYI - his current diet and the fact that he is so accepting of so many kinds of food is a MIRACLE. When I rescued him, he would only eat sunflowers!!
