Out of all the wonderful masks I tried for the first time in 2017 or continued to enjoy from years prior, these three made top shelf
First, the @leahlaniskincare Mermaid Mask 🧜♀️ If you’ve tried this one then you at least have an idea of why I’d pick this as a favorite. It’s completely unique - a sticky ocean sap that’s vibrant green and smells of citrus fruits and the seaside. The process of stirring up the contents, applying, and removing (!!!) can be quite involved, but it’s fun to get kind of messy sometimes. Plus, the results are worth it. My skin always feels like it’s been retexturized, soothed, and charged back up with vibrancy and let’s face it, results are just as important as sensorial experience.
Hydrating and moisturizing masks that you can apply and essentially forget about are my new favorite thing, with @glossier‘s Moon Mask being the chief example of impact without effort. Of course you can wash this mask off after 20 minutes as recommended, but I see no harm in leaving it on for as long as you’d like. In fact, I’ve been known to reapply after each episode of whatever I’m binge-watching at the moment 🧟♂️ It’s supremely effective in the rehydration department, and the little drop in temperature you feel upon application is always nice
Lastly, to honor a mask that redefines the mask category: @naturallogic’s LUNA. It’s a red wine ferment and probiotic cream mask that somehow completely resurfaces and smooths the skin while simultaneously making it feel moisturized and firm. The directions say 45 minutes, but sometimes I’ll leave it on for a bit longer just because the experience is so nice. The scent reminds me of boozy Raisinets, and the pudding-like texture only adds to the decadence of the experience. If you want a mask that does a ton of different things all at once, she’s your girl. It was hard to pick only three masks, but I’m quite content with my final selection. They are my personal best of the best and I can’t imagine last year without them What are your top 3 - if you could only pick 3?
My top resolution of 2018: don’t fuckin overthink it for goodness’ sake
Instead, I’ll just kick my feet up and lay on a bed of orange blossoms on a hot summer day - gentle perspiration and all. That’s where Fleurs d’oranger by the inimitable @sergelutens takes me. It’s the heat and sex appeal of sunny orange blossoms from start to finish; it doesn’t falter or fizzle out. In fact, the only fizzle that you might experience is a bit of a firecracker to the loins if you catch my drift. This shit is hot. It hangs onto the skin and clothes for days (not hours) and keeps a breezy window by the sunny coast at close reach. This is what I will be smelling like all year What about you?
Thanks for staying tuned in. 2017 was a bitch, and was rough on all of us - that I know for sure. I’m currently gaining XP to tackle 2018 with the same passion that I had when I was a beauty obsessed fifteen year old. But first! Tackling this lovely post-holiday cold that let’s face it, was inevitable. For now I’m banished to the couch but a little R&R sounds perfect anyway PS: will someone slap me for juuuuust now getting into Desperate Housewives? ♂️ Pinch to zoom for grainy goodness
Much love to all of you. She’s coming back!!!!
It’s snowing so I slathered
To date, my skin’s most loved hydration mask. It leaves behind a serumy mesh of hydration that truly does bind a significant amount of water to the skin and keeps it there. And it’s $22. Everyone wins!
PS I’ll put my Rep link in my bio in case your skin is as patched as mine is lmao
PPS the surplus of dehydration I’m experiencing may also be wine induced so I can’t put all the blame on Mother Nature
‘Twas a @guerlain Mitsouko kind of day 🧐 Now all I can do is huff the sleeve of my sweater like it’s going out of style lmao. It’s a deliciously warm peach that sits on top of a bed of spices and oakmoss. There’s a juicy coziness to it that really lends itself to this cool weather. It’s loud, it’s polarizing, and it smells like the ladies I smelled in church when I was growing up. All the more reason to sneak an extra spritz if you ask me. Plus... the bottle (!!!!!) I’m such a sucker for that sleeeeeek silhouette What are you wearing today? 🧡
Piling the @tammyfender Roman Chamomile Tonic on like there’s no tomorrow. It’s absolutely wonderful to splash on after cleansing before an oil serum to soften the skin and calm it down. My skin loves (and responds to) all kinds of Chamomile, and this is no exception. Personally, I wouldn’t classify it as the ~most~ soothing or the ~most~ hydrating toner or tonic, but it always makes my skin look and feel much happier after I apply it It goes without saying that the cloud of chamomile juiciness that wafts through the air during application is likely my favorite part, and certainly helps to make the experience very refreshing and comforting. The formula essentially contains chamomile water, chamomile oil, and a bit of preservative so if you tend to prefer shorter INCI list, this might be for you. Brb, time to go splash another deliciously soothing layer all up in my grill. Have a fabulous day my friends
SAVE ME FROM MY SHRIVELED SKIN The heater is on and my skin (especially my lips, oy vey) are turning into prunes and I just can’t handle it! Or can I? 🤭 I’ve relied heavily on the Hada Labo Gokujyun Lotion heavily from the moment I first tried it as per @gothamista’s recommendation. I’m on my second bottle now, and it’s reclaimed its position on top of my skincare cabinet as opposed to inside it; my radiator is back from vacation and well... *slurp!* Drier months especially call for squishy humectants, and this is by far the most versatile formula I own. I can pile it on my skin like there’s no tomorrow, and I never experience pilling/balling/rolling/guttural disappointment. It satisfies my skin’s dehydrated nature every time, without question, without delay. I can count in it, which is why I value it so much. I get mine from Amazon (it’s around $12) and will be continuing to replenish for as long as... oh gosh can we not get into time and space right now? I’m still pacing back and forth across the living room from when I watched Arrival... FOUR WEEKS AGO!!!!?? Anyway, I’m glad that I’ve given myself an extended Thanksgiving break because I miss having the free time to film and pour my heart out to you guys. Here’s hoping I’ll get some filming done. I finally have all the equipment I’ve been missing and it’s just a matter of free time (and energy!) at this point. For now, I’m immersing myself in Cheers for the first time (!!!!) and piling on, you guessed it, some Hada Labo. Okay fine, you caught me, I’m getting along famously with a bottle of Torrontes too 🧐 Cheers! PS: Amazon recently invited me to be part of their influencer program so the link in my bio will take you to a list of my favorites! Kinda kool eh? 🤩
You. It’s very pleasing. There’s a lovely soapy clean iris from the get-go, which really brings a creamy blue-grey softness that gently buzzes with a bit of pink pepper. What you’re mostly getting is a smooth, clean-laundry, musky, soft, skin-like, musky musk with some musk. It wears quite well in all it’s muskiness, and doesn’t become too much if re-applied. Personally, I like my fragrances to slap me around a bit 🥢 or transport me to dreamy nostalgia. I like the loud shoulder pad fragrances of the 80’s, the bold and brisk scents of modern imagination, and the long-standing classics of the 1910’s and 1920’s. @glossier You is less about storytelling and more about human connection. It doesn’t shout at you. It’s genderless, pleasing, likeable, ~very~ clean, and galaxies away from offensive or, again I say, unlikable. Chances are, you will like it and it will smell lovely on you The bottle is ergonomic af and feels like it was thoughtfully carved out to be held with stability from a number of angles (which I appreciate) and the cap holds well if you want to pick it up from above. The packaging is awe-inspiring and it would make a great gift. It’s a Barbie meets Swedish Fifth Element tactile dream come true and I’ve definitely got it on a bookshelf for display The entire experience is wonderful, and the scent has certainly grown on me. It may become the thing I spritz my pillows with to make my linens feel calmer and cozier, and even with that application I’d still be happy. It’s not my normal cup of tea, but it certainly has its place in my life #glossier#glossieryou#glossierrep#fragrance#eaudeparfum#perfume#yousmellgood#you#bblogger#beautyblogger
This cleanser is marvelous and is harmoniously balancing as promised - more details to come. Thanks (and congrats) Arabella and the lovely Votary team. You’ve truly outdone yourself with the collection
PS: I’ve been writing a lot of emails lol
@sephora VIB sale starts tomorrow The @drdennisgross SpectraLite is my toptoptoptoptop pick, and I finally feel like I’ve found a piece of beauty tech that I actually want to use regularly. My favorite part is that all you have to do is put them on your face, push a button, and that’s it. Oh, and take them off. Don’t forget that part cause I have on more than one occasion I use it every day and have done so since the lovely folks at DG sent one over back in July. The skin around my eyes is firmer and more resilient, without a doubt. I’d even venture to say the entire area is more taut. The fine lines under my eyes look a bit softer and definitely smoother. I’m a firm believer in light therapy, but actually seeing and feeling results is something else Sometimes I get lines of demarcation on my cheekbones, but it doesn’t bother me because the results and ease of use far outweigh any temporary little creases Grab one while there’s a potential discount - I certainly would be if one wasn’t sent to me
@votarylondon Body Oils - an endless summer evening Hot with bergamot, satin with peach kernel oil, and breezed with petitgrain. They are a coastal escape that just so happens to be really light on the skin, but blatantly moisturizing. I’m picky with body oils and these no doubt make my core buzz with what can only be described as bliss. They’re really that yellow, which totally adds to the fun. I find I reach for the Hydrating Body Oil more often than the Body Treatment Oil with Salicylic, but both are great to have and truly get the job done. It’s cooling off in NYC and I’m so down to take a bit of sunshine from a bottle and coat my body with it, yeah!
Thank you Arabella, love ya #votary#tophcam#oil#bodyoil#bergamot#peach#bbloggers#skincareblogger#skincare
