Making new friends in South Africa with @theblondeabroad. I still can’t believe this place exists! Warm weather, clear water and penguins waddling and swimming around everywhere! Summer days in December at Boulder Beach.

It was cold and dark, my feet were sore from exploring the area for over 12 hours, I had been doing push-ups and shadow boxing to stay warm but my clothes were wet from laying in the snow to get some unique photos.
I’ll never forget the way the landscape was softly lit from the glow of the moon. I watched the clouds start to sweep over the sky from an oncoming storm and right then, a faint shooting star streaked across the sky.
These are the moments that make me realize that all of the hard work is worth it, the moments that make me feel alive!
Shortly after this photo the storm rolled in, so I packed up my bag and hiked for a few hours through the desert back to my van... with a smile on my face the entire way! #nightphotography #passion #sonya7sii #arizona

Each time I go into the ocean I seem to gain a greater respect for it and all of my surroundings. The sport of freediving (diving below the surface on a single breath of air) has helped me grow as an individual and also helped me meet some incredible people along the way!
Huge thanks to @gmc and @matadornetwork for creating projects that allow me to continue doing what I’m passionate about and hopefully encouraging some of you to chase your dreams as well! The rare “Super Blue Blood Moon” just happened a few minutes ago and I was fortunate enough to capture these images of it!
Here, a father and daughter share a moment, a moment that to me represents the passing of his appreciation for the environment and our responsibility to protect it.
Huge thanks to Tom and Ava Cain, @optcorp, @therealjbowen and most of all to @davidhatfieldphotography for putting in 50+ hours of work with me to calculate this setup and bring this vision to a reality!
Also, thanks to all of you who continue to motivate me and support what I do! 🙏🏼

TONIGHT & TOMORROW MORNING! Don’t miss the rare “Super Blue Blood Moon” which hasn’t happened in over 150 years!
Most of the world will get to see at least part of this incredible show! It will be a super moon, a blue moon, and a total lunar eclipse (blood moon), all at the same time.
The total eclipse starts at 4:51am PST, but check online to see when/if you can view it.
This is my image of a total lunar eclipse from a few years ago. Good luck and I hope you all get the chance to experience this special event!

Mountain Magic in Glacier National Park.
I’m completely honored that @GoPro announced this image as their “Photo of the Year” for 2017.
Here, @chelseakauai was performing her levitation tricks at Hidden Lake in Montana.
We soaked up some sun and enjoyed the perfect afternoon, then began our hike out and ended up in a heavy hail storm. With nowhere to hide, we just laughed continued on through the storm. After a week or two of summiting peaks, swimming in lakes, spotting incredible wildlife and enjoying crazy weather patterns, Glacier National Park quickly became one of our favorite places in the world!

Such an amazing way to start the new year! (SWIPE RIGHT). 11 friends and I went to central Oregon and stayed in a beautiful cabin in the woods. I didn’t post much at the time (I’m a huge advocate of not being on my phone much when I’m around friends) but wanted to upload a few photos from our little adventure! Such an epic group and perfect location, big thanks to @glampinghub & @lolomalodge for hosting us!
P.S. I’m still blown away that Ryan (@handsomerobinson) captured this long exposure photo of me walking the highline. This line was super intense and I only tried walking with my hands behind my back a few times, yet somehow, he was able to grab my camera and tripod and snag this crazy shot while I wasn’t moving!
Much love to the whole crew 🙏🏼🙌🏼

Entranced by the geometric shapes in nature!
I spent the past few days exploring the deserts of Southern California with my really good friend @ericaleecraig. Growing up in British Columbia, Canada she had never seen the desert before (something that I grew up in, coming from San Diego) so it was fun feeding off of her excitement and developing an even greater appreciation for the landscapes in my own backyard.
Like I always say, you don’t need to take a trip around the world to find beautiful places. Pack up a car, drive for a few hours, and I guarantee you can find new adventures and truly incredible landscapes.
Get out there!

Being inside a cave underwater on a single breath of air both terrifies and exhilarates me. Here is @aliciaunderwater showing how calm and relaxed she is in these conditions even when the swell is building and the waves start tossing us around inside the caves.
Click the link in my profile to watch the 2 min video of how I got this image and my journey into freediving and capturing images underwater. Huge thanks to @GMC and @matadornetwork for making projects like this possible! Let me know what you think of the video. 🙏🏼 #travelstoke #freediving #partners #underwaterphotography

Today’s adventure consisted of taking our 4x4 rental camper van down snowy roads, counting our steps along a trail to find the turn to the hidden waterfalls, wandering through the forest, and standing in awe of these beautiful hidden gems.
Here is @vagabondhearts enjoying her first trip to the state of Oregon.

Travis Burke (@travisburkephotography)

The cold mist swirled around me and I could hear and feel nothing but the intense power of the falls.
Walking this close to something moving so fast in my peripheral vision made it exponentially harder to find my balance, but when I was able to focus and relax enough, the experience was like nothing else in the world!
Yesterday’s walk through the sky in Oregon.
Huge thanks to @kylormelton for capturing this video and @handsomerobinson for putting in so much work to set up this line.🙏🏼🙌🏼

Cold and moody morning yesterday deep in the forest of Oregon. Luckily we had an incredible crew and some of my favorite hot springs in the country!
@jess.wandering @chelseakauai & @vagabondhearts watching the fog and steam drift through the trees with no one else around for miles.
Pacific Northwest perfection.

Travis Burke (@travisburkephotography)

I hadn’t slept in over 40 hours but I did find this incredible winter wonderland with my good friend Lindsay!
It’s so fascinating visiting the same places at different times of the year and seeing how each season adds a diverse and unique beauty to the landscape.
Not a bad first stop in the Pacific Northwest! 🙏🏼🙌🏼

Travis Burke (@travisburkephotography)

The sunsets in San Diego have been incredible lately! It’s always great visiting family and friends in my hometown but now I’m off to the Pacific Northwest for some adventures and a little downtime in a cozy cabin.
Here @chelseakauai stands at the edge of a sea cave watching the gradation of colors reflect off the smooth ocean surface.
Do you have any places you think I should photograph in Oregon??

Travis Burke (@travisburkephotography)

I just spent one month in South Africa and experienced more than I ever imagined.... Here is just my first 48 hours with my good friend @theblondeabroad while we stayed at the @lionsandsgamereserve.
From one-of-a-kind treehouses to witnessing wildlife encounters that our tracker and guide said they hadn’t experienced in the 16+ years that they’ve been doing this, it was definitely a rare and special trip!
All content shot by Kiersten and I during our stay 🎥👌🏼#safari #treehouse #big5 #southafrica

I always make a conscious effort to put down the camera and appreciate the beauty around me!
Huge thanks to my buddy 📷 @kylormelton for capturing this moment with perfect conditions and no one around! 🙏🏼🙌🏼

I love asking people about the worst job that they’ve ever had or just their job history in general. It’s a great way to learn more about the person and you’re almost always in for a good story or two.
I’d love to hear if you have any good ones and I know I’ve definitely had my fair share in the past.
Sometimes I’d be working a job that seemed sooo pointless that I had no idea why I was there or how it would benefit me in the future... but looking back now, every single job I’ve ever had has given me some sort of knowledge, experience, discipline or confidence that I needed to end up exactly where I wanted to be (even before I knew where that was).
Don’t ever feel like you’re too good for a specific job, but don’t ever feel like that is where you need to stay forever!
Here are “just a few” of my past jobs- Restaurant busboy, door to door sales, putting together golf clubs in an assembly line with ex convicts through the night (while in high school), grocery store bagger, scraping grease out of dirty kitchen vents through the night, construction, cutting and delivering x-mas trees, almost every warehouse job, folding and hanging clothing full time, etc.
Do you have a random job you’ve worked and/or a funny story? I’d love to hear it in the comments below ⬇️👌🏼

Namibia- Between the oldest desert in the world, cute baby seals, the Skeleton Coast and staying in some super unique glamping tents, @theblondeabroad and I definitely fell in love with this beautiful country. Here are a few highlights from our action packed 4 day road-trip. Huge thanks to @atiholidays & @matadornetwork for making this trip possible! #namibia #atihopidays #matadornetwork #skeletoncoast

Travis Burke (@travisburkephotography)

I made a small fire in the wood burning stove which kept the tent extremely warm inside... But to be honest, I spent most of my time outside, watching the constellations seemingly drift throughout the sky as the earth continues its rotation at almost 1000 mph.
I’m forever grateful to experience so many remote and beautiful places such as this spot near Arches National Park and appreciate companies like @gmc and @matadornetwork sharing my stories and passions. #travelstoke #partner #nightphotography
